Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 with Vibration Feedback (Black)

Customer Review: Quick and Easy
Summary: 5 Stars

Some years back I got tired of keeping all my old game systems connected (nintendo, snes, genesis, etc), so I created a PC for emulation to play all my old games from a central location. I used to use the gravis gamepad pro (PS style controller), and it worked great. Recently I upgraded the machine to play my old Nintendo 64 games and needed an analog stick, so I made this purchase, and it works flawlessly

1 Drawback however: I would have like to have seen the D-pad be like a real cross (I had the same issue with the gravis gamepad pro), and not a "webbed cross" or "disc". When playing older games, your thumb can slip and instead of pressing right, you're really press more down because part of your thumb is on the "webbed" part between the right direction and the down direction. This drawback however, may be to your benefit depending on what you are doing/playing so take it with a grain of salt. Also keep in mind that if it really bothered me that much, I can always undust the old games and hook them back up.

Customer Review: Can't believe it doesn't have a cord
Summary: 5 Stars

Although this is a new purchase, and I've only used it for just over a month, it is the single best game controller I've had for my PC. I have several other Logitech devices in use on the 2 PC's in my home, and both have been performing flawlessly for over 2 years. This game controller was a stretch for me, I've never had much faith in cordless hardware. This unit may as well have a cord attached to it, it responds better than the Gravis controllers I've had (5), and the action on the joysticks is profoundly accurate. Durability is still in question, since I've only put 30 hours on this unit. My PC is a Dell Dimension 8200, running XP Home edition with service pack 2 already installed (CD version, minimal install). The games I play are Mechwarrior 4 and expansions, NASCAR games. The driving games have been hard to get used to, the controller responds so quickly that I'm not used to that amount of precision. For the price you pay, you can't go wrong. Especially if you're familiar with the Sony Playstation controller.

Customer Review: Works with the PS3
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this gamepad around 2 years ago and it worked perfectly until most PC games now-a-days support the keyboard/mouse and XBOX 360 controller. So I bought my self the XBOX 360 controller and thought I was a little sad until I tested it on my new PS3 Slim, and it worked perfectly fine... Only the rumble feature don't work on the PS3 though. The older PC games don't support the XBOX 360 controller, so I would highly recommend to own both of them if you are a PC gamer... And I highly recommend the logitech brand, it has never disappointed me :D... My wireless keyboard/mouse, and multiple game pads are all logitech...

P.S. All the logitech controllers work with the PS3 that I know of... Even the ones without the analogue sticks, but those can be used with games that don't need analogue sticks... For example; Street Figher IV, or any FIFA game (need to change control configuration from L-Analogue to D-Pad moveing setting)... I can simply switch from my PC games, to PS3... Well enough said, buy this gamepad :)

Customer Review: it just works
Summary: 5 Stars

The best products simply do exactly what you expect them to do. This is one of those items. I've used gamepads for a variety of platforms (xbox, ps3, etc.) yet this was the first time that I used one with my PC. Now that I've got my PC hooked up to the widescreen LCD in the living room, I've been using it more for videogames as well as movies, music and photos. The rumblepad is recognized on my winxp media center edition without any driver installation, and works flawlessly with all of the games I play that have joystick configuration. I was surpised that some of my favorite games are not designed to work with a joystick, and only allow mouse input. No worries, as I find my logitech cordless mouse works just as well as a game controller. I've found the wireless to work without a hitch, even in a room with 802.11g, 5.8ghz cordless phones and a logitech wirless keyboard and mouse all running at the same time. The keypad feels natural and comforable during game play, and I've used it for hours without fatigue.

Customer Review: Exceptional, if you use only one...
Summary: 2 Stars

The gamepad is of exceptional quality and wireless range. I haven't had a single problem when I used a single device in my computer.

I would easy give it 5 stars if there wasn't a very important downside:

I bought a second one to play PES2011. About 85% of the time they work flawlessly. BUT in some cases in the middle of the game one of the receivers switches and starts receiving signal from the other gamepad. This is not a PES problem because it shows also in the windows control panel.

In the Logitech support forums the problem was addressed as "unresolvable" because the device uses DirectInput versus X-Input... That was somewhat confusing and was accepted as an indication that they simply refuse to resolve the issue so the customers are moved to buy newer "X-Input" controllers.

The fact that you're not really supposed to use two of these controllers at the same time seems like something they should have mentioned in their sales literature, but they did not.
