I purchased this number pad because I wanted something more portable then having to carry around a keyboard with a number pad on it to plug in my laptop while preparing taxes. This product is wonderful in addition to the key pad it also has other functions like tab, backspace, parentheses and equal signs. I do a lot of formulas and this makes it so easy. And as if that weren't enough it also has a button that will open up an Excel workbook and another for the calculator. I've used this product on at least three different laptops (Compaq, Dell, and HP) with no problems at all.
