Customer Review: Loved it before it was even out of the box
Summary: 4 Stars

A couple of years ago I had the Logitech mx5000 Bluetooth keyboard/mouse and it was hands down far and away my favorite keyboard ever, as far as range, keyboard feel, the weight of the mouse, it was perfect in almost every way until about three weeks in and the mouse kept wandering off (of the Bluetooth connection) and had to be re-associated on almost every reboot, then it started trying to be friends with my Bluetooth headset for my cell phone every time it got within range, finally, the keyboard decided it wasn't on the allowed devices list anymore and that was the end of that. I replaced it with a M$ RF set that was very decent but never as precise as the Logitech was. After only about a year and a half the left mouse button started failing and the pointer started having issues tracking and finally the keyboard started having response issues as well. I knew I didn't want another Bluetooth set, while the range and security are certainly better how good is it when you have to go find a standard ps2 keyboard just to log on so you can re-associate the keyboard again?! Enter the desktop wave, first of all its tiny USB key size receiver is both attractive and unobtrusive unlike the comparatively humungous M$ receiver. Setup was a snap; plug it in, press the button on the receiver and the mouse and once more each for the keyboard and you're up and running. Range seems to be much better than on the M$ set as well, and none of the cylon-esq scanning lightshow and 45 second waiting period before the receiver decides if it's okay to "talk" to the mouse or keyboard or not (on initial setup the M$ set took at least three association attempts before it would fly). The keys feel a bit soft to me but ergonomically it is extremely comfortable and avoids the whole split keyboard mess - ewe. The mouse is also a bit light for my taste and just a touch too small, but not so much so that I can say it is a deal breaker. Overall - Logitech goodness excellent design easy and fast setup, stylish all around, and except for the AIM crapware that wants to install with the included software, very useful and easy to use setup CD as well.
**** update, a few more days into ownership and I have to agree with the other recent posters, still loving the keyboard, it is simply awsome, but the mouse leaves something to be desired which is why 4 and not 5 stars, the forward and back buttons are terrible, and the mouse is too small for my hands but again, it isn't a deal breaker by any stretch, I would buy this again in a second.

Customer Review: Excellent quality at a low price, but is it right for you?

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I installed this product on my Vista PC with a minimum of fuss. I had to give permission for the installation procedure to access the Internet and I had to download one driver. Everything worked as it should, first time. The keyboard is lighter and flatter than I expected - I thought it was going to have one of those bulky rests for the wrists, but fortunately not. I particularly like the scroll wheel on the mouse, which allows you to move left and right over a document by tilting the wheel left and right. Because the novel features of the keyboard and mouse are ergonomic as much as functional, they may or may not be right for you. The unorthodox key layout will upset some people and delight others. The Home and End keys are aligned horizontally rather than vertically, which makes sense when you consider that they are most often used to go to the beginning and end of lines. The delete key is extra large, on the basis that it is frequently used. If you habitually use several different keyboards and like the keys to be always where you expect them to be, you may be irritated by these innovations. The keys are very quiet, but with a slightly spongy feel. To know if this is right for you, you need to think about how you work. For instance, if you want a cordless keyboard so you can sit on a sofa some distance from a large screen in a games room or whatever, wouldn't you need a trackball rather than a separate mouse? Also, are you so pushed for space that you won't want this larger than usual keyboard? Personally, I love it. Being free of those cords has made life a lot easier. This is not, in all honesty, a product that you really need - it is something that you might love to have. This product screams quality, from the packaging (Logitech pack their stuff well enough to withstand cataclysmic disasters, and attractively enough to make it feel like Christmas when you open it) through installation, to use. And the price is good. Your upgrade path should be: Wait until you need a new PC, then buy one with Vista already installed (upgrading is a pain), then add this keyboard and mouse to your Amazon Wish List, a few weeks before Christmas, and start dropping hints.

Customer Review: Good but...
Summary: 3 Stars

Gave this 3 stars because of my personal preference/opinion.

Purchased this yesterday (04/09/10) when my old logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo stopped working. I still need to get used to an ergonomic keyboard. I type fast and with this keyboard have missing the keys when I type and very conscious of the way I type :) and uncomfortable to my wrist. But, like I said, I still have to get used to this type of keyboard.

Problems I found with the product. Note: this may only be my problem (btw, using Windows 7):

1) Numlock/Capslock keys: With my old logitech combo, there is a light on the receiver when the numlock/capslock are on. This is easy for me to know if I've had it switched on and off. Although, when you hit numlock/capslock, it will appear in your screen for a few seconds if on or off. Before buying this set, I should have checked this out first, my fault. I assumed to much a :)

2) I have a KVM switch since I use multiple computers with multiple monitors. With the receiver hooked to the Iogear extreme 4 port KVM switch some of the FN function/keyboard shortcuts do not work, e.g, shortcut for word, excel, messenger, favorites, calendar, Numlock/capslock don't give you any information if lock or not. You have to directly connect the receiver to the computer you are using. Keyboard and mouse work (and some functions) when I switch to different computers and switch to different monitors. When connected to the KVM, when you check the mouse/keyboard setting of Logitech, the tabs for mouse and keyboard are not there. Directly connecting the usb receiver to appropriate computers, tabs are present. I prefer moving from A, B, C, etc. computers and having all the functions in there with the press of a button than moving the receiver from 1 computer to another. Didn't find any solution for this, one said, to have a duplicate usb receiver for the computer, but still I have to connect it directly to both computers and plugging and unplugging the usb would mean extra steps (you know, doing the proper way of unplugging a usb, etc.). Like what I said, petty for some, but valuable for me.

However, in general, without my 'petty observations', keyboard is good, responsive keyboard and mouse.

Customer Review: Best feel keyboard I have tried
Summary: 5 Stars

After i got my new IBM laptop, I have found out that the difference of a good keyboard and a bad keyboard really makes a great deal on using computer. This about it, you are spending big bucks on CPU, Memory, Video Card, etc....but do you know, nowadays, if you don't play games or do intense graphic work, you very very rarely, and I do mean very rarely use the full capacity of your computer (From a review i read, most of time, you only use up to 10~20% of the full load). After 10 years of computer usage, I have came to realize that it has became very true, that those spec don't matter that much no more when you don't play games or do video editing. So instead of spending big money on those spec, or so call "SPEED", you are really better off to spend your money on 3 things:

1. Monitor: it's the "THING" that you look at everyday!!! And it's wat brings everything alive, without a good screen, what good does it make when you have the best of everything?
2. Case: A good case with good cooling method, produce little noise, it's very good for your ear!! Seriously, this is more important then speed when you using it in a quiet room
3. Keyboard & Mouse: Last but not the least, the inputting device, that you use every single day, min, second! It's what you actually touch and feel, that you use all the time. And it's something that you have to look at too!!

So after these reason, it's really why I start searching for the best keyboard I can find for my everyday use. Logitech Wave came to my eye and it's really the best and most comfortable keyboard I have tried. I'm recommeding this set for it's Value + Performance. The entire typing experience on this keyboard is just surperb, you really feel like your PC is a new machine after setting this up on your PC. The feel and response are great, it's light but with great bounce. The Wave shaped keyboard feels akward at first, but after you get use to it, you can be typing faster than ever. The mouse though is not the best, but good for the pricing! And it's wireless!! Some of the bad are the size of the keyboard is kinda big, and also the range doesn't go that far. But they don't bother me that much. I will still recommend this to People!! Give it a try a local STORE!

Customer Review: Vista not required
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Reading the documentation and sales copy for this keyboard and mouse combination, I was concerned that I'd enjoy less than full functionality since we haven't switched over to MS Vista on our home computer. I'm happy to note, though, that Vista isn't necessary at all. On the whole, I'm quite pleased with the keyboard and mouse so far.

Some of the photos I saw online made it look like this keyboard had been left out in the sun too long, distorting the degree of "wave" to look like some sort of awful Frank Gehry design. Turns out it's not that dramatic at all. The change from a standard flat keyboard is certainly noticeable, but not nearly as extreme as some other allegedly ergonomic designs. More noteworthy is the fact that the keyboard itself is fairly large, and takes up a good deal of space on the (physical) desktop. If you have a smaller desk or computer stand, that may become an issue.

Installation was simple, and in fact once the receiver was hooked into a USB port the keyboard and mouse worked fine even before any software was installed. Once that was done, I was pleased to see that nearly all the Vista- and media-related function keys could be reassigned to open any other program, or perform some other task, as the user prefers. I had already set up a number of keyboard shortcuts for things like opening programs or a new email message -- and now those tasks are easier still since each has a button on this keyboard assigned to it. And the volume, play/pause, and other media-control buttons integrated with my iTunes just fine.

They keyboard is quiet and comfortable, and the mouse feels good in the hand too. About the only thing I'm having to retrain myself on is not accidentally hitting the buttons on either side of the mouse. Apart from that (and the fact that I've only been using the keyboard for about 24 hours so far), I am pretty satisfied. It's not a revolutionary change in how I use my computer, but it does feel like a nice step forward.
