Customer Review: My Favorite Keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

I work all day on the computer and have been using one of these for the last 5 years. My greatest fear is that Logitech will find some reason to discontinue this model. I did stray off the reservation and bought a Connectland 2.4 GHz Wireless Keyboard (Multimedia Hot Keys) and Optical Mouse Combo, Black Color for a second computer. I figured I could save a few bucks and it wouldn't matter because that wasn't my primary machine. I ended up giving that keyboard away and ordering another Logitech EX110. I find this keyboard as comfortable, durable, and responsive as any. I've used it with Windows XP through Windows 7 and several Linux distros. I actually took this keyboard apart to clean it because I didn't fully trust the claim it was water resistant. There is absolutely no way liquid can get into the keyboard unless you immerse it in water. I held the typing surface (disassembled) under a faucet and it didn't leak. If your keyboard gets dirty you're not going to ruin it by spraying a cleaner on the keys. There's also no way keys can fly off with normal use as some have claimed. They're well secured to the top panel and interlocked in the water resistance mechanism. Unless you're a disgruntled former Logitech employee or playing with a screwdriver it ain't gonna happen.

Regarding range, it's important not to obstruct the receiving unit and don't place other electronic devices next to it. Your batteries will also last longer if it's unobstructed. Although this works plug 'n play you'll get better battery life and range if you use Logitech's software. It's noticeable on my Linux machine which doesn't have Logitech drivers. It works well enough, but if you use Windows visit Logitech's site and download the latest software. If your computer lacks a PS/2 port and you don't want to tie up a second USB port get a USB to PS/2 Adapter. Then you can plug the whole thing into a single USB port.

Customer Review: Small footprint, excellent value for light/intermediate use
Summary: 5 Stars

At a price of only $29.99, I wasn't expecting too much, but this unit has delivered all that I expected - a functional wireless keyboard and mouse, working well right out of the box. I chose this unit because of (a) price, and (b) its small keyboard footprint. I wasn't seeking additional programmable buttons (though it has some), nor was I concerned with 800dpi pixel precision mouse performance, because it's not used for any work that detailed (like photo editing). We also didn't care if the mouse was "non-ergonomic", in fact, we prefer the 'older' style small mouse as opposed to the larger curved ergonomic style. Given these expectations, the EX110 does the trick for us. All buyers should consider listing what's important to them, in priority order, and let that be a guide for product selection. Many of us are so easily attracted and influenced by features and functions that we'll never use or use only infrequently.

Production quality appears sufficient for our light use, perhaps an hour each day; for a heavy user, I might be concerned about long term reliability of pounding the keys thousands of times, but that is simply an opinion and projection, and is not based on experience. I don't have enough time with the unit yet to experience the battery life (two AA in the mouse, two AAA in the keyboard). The system worked well right out of the box, and my wife, the primary user, is very pleased with it. The receiver sits under the desk totally out of view around 15 inches away from the mouse, with the thick desktop in between, with perfect performance. I didn't even have to install the Logitech drivers for my WinXP OS. My only product design complaint - the keyboard tilt legs (underside, in the rear, that lift the backside of the keyboard) are somewhat low, are not adjustable as on the more expensive units, and do not tilt the keyboard enough for her liking; this might be an individual preference.

Customer Review: Works great...for a month

I made the mistake of buying this keyboard/mouse set because I wanted a cheap keyboard and mouse for when I'm using my laptop at home. My reasoning? It's a keyboard! It's a mouse! It's a piece of commodity hardware that's been mass-manufactured for personal computers for nearly thirty years! I can buy an MP3 player for $30 that will never die, so how hard could it possibly be to manufacture a reliable keyboard and mouse?

Well, apparently it's beyond the abilities of the people at Logitech, because this is not the first time I've had a Logitech keyboard/mouse go belly-up on me. I fired up the computer this morning...mouse working, nothing from the keyboard. Okay, I thought, time for some new batteries. So I put in a new pair of AAA's, and what do I get?

****

...and more of the same, none of it (need it be said?) in response to actually touching the l, k or asterisk keys. After wasting half an hour going through their connect sequence and scouring the web for solutions, I've come to the conclusion that this is simply another worthless piece of Logitech garbage. Perhaps Logitech feels that it's a canny business strategy to build this kind of obsolescence into their products, so people like me will be forced to run out and buy another of their craptastic products. Well, you know the saying -- fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. No more Logitech products, EVER.

Stay far away from this dog. You'll be glad you did.

Customer Review: Great value, easy set up, great keyboard, but a better mouse is out there!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to replace my Labtec Media Wireless Desktop Keyboard & Mouse Set 925426-0403, which I had purchased over a year ago, when it lost a battle w/ a spilt bottle of water.

This time I wanted easier set-up, good value (the other one still costs nearly twice as much), and a mouse that worked better(I had given up on the Labtec mouse early on, but the keyboard "had me at hook-up").

Well, this delivers on all of them - but more so on the value and easy set-up - plus, it's spill resistant! Set-up easily allowed me to tailor those extra buttons on both the keyboard and mouse to do what I wanted with them (many of which I'd never used before), and literally took minutes.

The mouse isn't as sluggish as my last one - but nor is it as precise as a connected one. (I've since bought a Logitech MX600 Laser Cordless USB-PS/2 Mouse(Silver/Black) for work - which is the best wireless mouse I've ever used and has an easier set up than even this one.)

I do wish it had a "battery alert" to let me know when the batteries are running low on the keyboard like my last "high end" one did. But, after a month of continuous use the batteries are still running strong.

All in all , you can't go wrong with the value/quality combo on this set. And, if you're not playing games or designing very precise items with it - the mouse is above average for a wireless. You can even leave your "connected mouse" connected for more precise work - and the wireless one will continue to work when you want a little more freedom (or access to those customized buttons) on less intensive projects.

Customer Review: Like the keyboard, hate the mouse.
Summary: 3 Stars

I'm pretty happy with the keyboard -- I wanted something small and minimalist without all those media buttons I'll never use (this one has the standard media and web shortcuts, but they're small and unobtrusive). The keys feel pretty nice, with the notable exception of the space bar which clacks loudly and feels pretty jarring. Overall, though, the keyboard is attractive and comfortable.

The mouse is a disappointment, though. I have very small hands, but after comfortably using the much heftier rechargeable mouse that came with one of the higher-end Logitech desktops, this mouse feels a little too light and very tiny, and isn't even large enough for my palm to rest on the back. Pretty uncomfortable. Plus, while I didn't want a mouse that was studded with buttons all over like the more expensive models, I found that I really miss the forward and back buttons. (The old mouse was perfect -- a non-clicking scroll wheel and forward and back buttons on the side, and that was it. Now everything is either all or nothing.) Worse than the lack of buttons, the scroll wheel feels very rough and is absolutely deafening, and the right button doesn't work very well at all -- I usually have to click two, three, or four times to get it to work.

I would have given this product two stars except for the price -- this is a pretty inexpensive set, and it is billed as the "most affordable" way to go wireless. I knew that Logitech did make good stuff, and I was just gambling on how low the bottom end of their product line would go. It was a little lower than I had hoped. If you just want a basic set, this very affordable desktop should serve your needs fine. But if you want a little more comfort, you'll have to pay for it.
