Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser (Black)

Customer Review: Stand-out Star of the Desktop
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this product to replace a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard that I really loved. As a medical transcriptionist, I am an obsessive perfectionist about my keyboard. When it was time to replace the worn-out MS ergo, I spent an entire day researching the current offerings.

This Logitech Cordless model is my new best friend. It worked right out of the box, truly plug 'n play--I never bothered to install the included software. It also works perfectly--there is no sluggishness or unresponsiveness that sometimes plagues wireless keyboards.

My old Microsoft keyboard would frequently cause a "Keyboard Not Detected" error during reboot, requiring a second reboot, but this keyboard has not done that once, which has eliminated a major recurring hassle.

The ergonomics are perfect for me personally; I love the removable wrist rest (and wouldn't dream of removing it).

I really tried to think of a negative, but there just isn't even a tiny one. For me, this Logitech wireless is a gem and I am planning to buy a couple extras to have on hand.

Customer Review: Love the keyboard, not the mouse
Summary: 4 Stars

Keyboard & RF receiver
I bought this for the keyboard, but prefer a different logitech mouse (Cordless Optical Trackman) than the one included. The included RF receiver has 1 USB connector for the keyboard and 1 PS2 connector for the mouse. If the Logitech mouse you plan to use, such as mine, requires a USB connector, you will need to use its own receiver and not share. The keyboard/ mouse combo that comes in this kit work just fine with the receiver. Just plan on having two receivers connected to the system if you plan to customize.

Not Bluetooth
This device doesn't claim to be bluetooth but the included software may try to convince you it is while setting up your devices. Ignore this or you will go down a bunny hole. See Setpoint Software below.

Setpoint Softare
The software that comes with the keyboard/mouse is Logitech's standard keyboard/mouse software. Once up and running, it works fairly well for Vista, but has some features removed for XP. I have the same set-up both at home and work and noted the assignable keys work on one system, but not the other. Don't know if this is a Vista issue or a Setpoint issue. While loading the softare, Setpoint assumes you are installing a bluetooth enabled system and asks you to push buttons on your keyboard and mouse that don't exist. I spent several minutes trying to find these buttons, including rereading the box and looking on the Logitech website before I realized this set-up for bluetooth is not intented for this system.

Customer Review: So good, I've bought it twice.
Summary: 5 Stars

There's a dearth of affordable ergonomic keyboards out there. In addition to that, almost all new keyboards being manufactured in the ergo style seem to mold on a non-removable wristrest. While that's fine in some circumstances, I've already got a better one built onto my keyboard drawer, and being forced to have another would cause BAD ergonomics for me. This keyboard provided a REMOVABLE wristrest which I don't install. Besides that, most of these forced wristrests on the newer keyboards I didn't find comfortable at all.

I've owned one of these combos in the past that recently had the keyboard fail after many years of use. After searching for a new product that could match what I had with it, I found nothing could compare to the comfort, ease-of-use, great quality of construction and performance of this combo, WITH NO FORCED WRISTREST IN IT'S CONSTRUCTION. So, I've bought this combo for a second time. Pay attention out there manufacturers - some of your "improvements" aren't improvements at all for me. And yes, if this one went, I'd buy another of the same (and hope there'll still be a few out in the market somewhere) until I can find a newer product that can meet my needs.

Customer Review: Perfect product

This is a perfect product in every way.
It's only short coming is that the transmitter
must be no more than 3 feet from the keyboard
or mouse. But again, it is awesome otherwise.

Customer Review: Don't buy this if you're a fast typer
Summary: 3 Stars

I absolutely LOVE how this keyboard feels. The keys are placed in the right spots (except the 6 key of course but oh well) and they actually feel good when you type--just the right amount of "clickiness" without requiring you to push down too hard. HOWEVER, Logitech must have a huge problem with its wireless technology. I can type roughly 80 words a minute and this keyboard simply couldn't keep up with my typing. As I watched the screen, the letters I typed would fall further and further behind where I was actually at. It required me to keep correcting what I was typing and it got to a point where I had to just return the keyboard, which I was pretty sad about, but I just couldn't stand it after a while. Too bad they don't make this same keyboard in a "wired" configuration. Or too bad Logtitech doesn't invest in a better wireless method (Microsoft keyboards don't seem to have this problem). I don't know if the mouse is any good or not as I use the Microsoft 6000 ergonomic mouse.

Overall, my wish is that Logitech keeps this exact keyboard form and design and replaces the wireless technology with something that actually works and has zero lag. Then I would buy this set in a heartbeat!
