I bought this camera to use on skype, oovoo, and other video chats to talk to my friends and it was a great buy. It shipped surprisingly fast, and the package was in good condition. I read the directions first and did exactly what it said to do. Installation wasn't rocket science BUT I found that if you just plug the camera in, you're better off without the disc. For me the disc wasted a night of me uninstalling and reinstalling the software because the sound was faulty.
I've read about several people having the same issue with the sound, so to get around that issue you just need to uninstall and reinstall it without the time wasting software disc.
As far as quality goes, it's amazing. It's smooth and clear, even with dim lighting. The only problem with video quality I've had so far is when it is little to no lighting, the auto focus tends to go crazy and go out of focus so I just turn off auto focus.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase of this high quality product.

I think few would be disappointed with the web cam's performance and features. My personal experience with the supplied software was poor.
The installation took a long time and ultimately crashed my laptop with a blue screen error. My wife tried to download the Logitec Vid software and could not get it to load past a few percent of the download. This overall installation process also resulted in our internet service going down twice. I had to re-power the cable modem after each installation attempt to restore it. This was baffling!
It's also worth mentioning that I am PC savvy and evaluating video related software is part of my job. I walked away from this product after no small effort to make it work. However this did not include talking the time to call tech support. In less challenging times, I would have hung in there and figured this out. However with two young children, I hardly have time to order stuff, let alone fix it.
Customer Review: Severe out-of-focus for use at long range, for multiple units

I bought 3 of these at different times; one batch of two, then later a single unit. All three are out of focus irregularly across the field of view. If you're looking for good close-range (a few feet) pictures, this is not a bad choice. Use at long range (a nature scene viewed through a window) turned out to be woefully inadequate. I set the focus controls to manual and did a "live" adjustment of the focus, and yes I'm sure that the control is as good as it can be set, it's maxed at distance. Typically one side of the picture is blurry at long range but picks up some details sharply from the scene that are a few feet away, whereas the other side seems to be focusing at the middle distance, rather than at long range. It would seem that the focusing system is defective for long-range use. One positive point: when the sun is in the frame, these units do better than cheaper units in avoiding total washout. This tiny webcam has the quality (and over-the-top packaging) that you'd expect from Logitech. Installation was simple and trouble-free. The image quality is superb. I would have preferred the desktop stand to have a snug fit onto the base, so that you could pick the whole the whole thing up easily. As it is, it falls apart very easily. The USB cable is less than three feet in length, which may or may not be convenient for you, as it takes up less space but may not reach far enough when you have it set up on your desk. But that sort of thing probably won't decide whether you buy this or not. The image quality (excellent) and the sound quality (adequate) will do that.Customer Review: Easy to Use, great video quality

In less than 10 minutes out of the box I was able to use the camera to have a video call and give my long distance family a tour of my new house. The camera performed very well, great video quality (in HD mode) while walking around with it clipped to my laptop, in and out of different lighting, focusing on me, then scenery, then right back to me.
The clip on the camera takes two hands to get onto something, but once clipped on, it stayed on and didnt wobble as I walked around. The cord is a good length for use with a laptop (not too long, but not too short).
The only non-positive comment is about the stand that comes with the camera. It tips very easily and detaches from the base very easily (so you might need to glue it if you plan on using the stand). On my crowded desk, this won't be of much use to me, but the camera clips to the screen on my laptop so no big deal.
