Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech 2.4 GHz Cordless Presenter (Black)

Customer Review: Superb design and performance
Summary: 5 Stars

After having run back and forth repeatedly between podium and laptop to change slides during Power Point shows, I finally got smart and acquired this terrific presenter by Logitech. Small (fits easily in a pocket), foolproof, reliable and simple to use, this presenter represents a triumph of design. Insert a small detachable receiver, housed in the device, into a USB port in your computer, turn on the switch and you're off and running. The presenter lauches your Power Point program, advances or backs up your slides at the touch of a button, turns on a black screen if you desire and even includes an easily set timer which signals 5 and 2 minutes from the planned end of the presentation by vibrating. It also has a red laser pointer, a volume control for presentations which include audio and runs on 2 AAA cells for months. It comes with a soft case for protection, but is very durable. This is a reasonably priced must-have for anyone who does much Power Point presenting.

Customer Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Logitech Presenter does everything it claims it will do - easily and flawlessly. No software to install, virtually no learning curve at all - you just plug it in and it works.
From other reviews I had read, I was a little concerned that the laser pointer would not remain sharp over a long distance. But I gave a presentation in an auditorium last week, and, from about 75 feet away, it was fine.
Since the Presenter has no remote mouse function, I did have to go over to my laptop to right-click on the screen in order to go directly to a slide that was 10 slides back from where I was in my presentation. (I did not want to step sequentially back through 10 slides on the screen, which I could have done with the Presenter.) So, next time I would put more importance on buying a presenter with remote mouse function; but, I'd also want it to have the compactness and ease of use of this one.
Overall, an excellent, high-quality product.

Customer Review: Good presentation remote
Summary: 4 Stars

This remote is a pretty good presentation remote. I like the fact that it uses regular batteries -- no special trips to the store when they run out (which hasn't happened yet). I use it for a two-hour lecture once a week and haven't had any problems. I don't use the timer feature - all I use is the slide fwd/bwd and the laser pointer.

The only downside is that the laser button is nestled in between the fwd/bwd buttons. Its raised a bit so its easy to get used to pressing the laser button without pressing the fwd/bwd buttons, but on average, I'd say I accidentally move forward or backward on accident about twice per lecture. This is better than my previous remote though, which - used a rocker switch to change slides, and would advance farther than I wanted (and it used watch-style betteries).

Overall - I'd recommend this remote. The laser pointer is very visible, and it fits in the hand nicely.

Customer Review: Good but flimsy and nonergonomic
Summary: 4 Stars

This product works fine... it has a long range so the presenter can wander all over the lecture hall. No problems with performance. Of course all it does is advance the PPT slides and has no other mouse-like controls (Why Not?). The design is my major complaint. First, it is unusually flimsy for a Logitech product (I've bought many of their mice over the years). In fact I feel that I have to handle it with the same care I use for eggs-- it just feels cheaply made of thin plastic. Even the on/off switch feels chintzy. Second, there is no indicator for on/off that I could find and there is a tendency to forget to turn it off. Third, it is an odd shape for a hand held device--not designed to fit the human hand.... I know that Logitech did have a remote presenter that was a sleek and durable device that felt comfortable but I couldn't find that one. This one will do the job but I wonder about its durability. Handle with care.

Customer Review: Great product for Powerpoint road-warriors
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the 4th remote presentation controller I have owned in a decade and is by far the best. By best I am referring to the ergonomics (size and weight-it fits discretely & comfortably in the hand), reliability (doesn't "miss" clicks, even in large auditoriums), and features.

For me the key "everyday" features are the countdown timer on the remote (that has a display of time remaining and also sounds/vibrates warnings), the detachable USB dongle (that fits inside the main body when not in use, and so is less likely to get lost) and the ability to "blackout" the displayed screen (useful if you want to pause your presentation for audience participation or at a break).

In common with many remotes the Logitech also includes a laser pointer which works OK but like the others is somewhat weak especially against a white/light slide background.

Overall, a great product at a good price.
