Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech 2.4 GHz Cordless Presenter (Black)Customer Review: Nice hardware but .... Summary: 3 Stars
The hardware for this device is very good. The device is small and compact. I like the way that the USB receiver is stored inside the device when not in use. I would lose it if it was not stored like this. I also like the case that comes with the unit.
However, one of the reasons I bought this unit, and paid a premium price, was for the timer function and that feature is almost useless. It was certainly not designed by a person who does much public speaking. I belong to ToastMasters and many of the speeches are 7 minutes long. The timer goes up in increments of 5 minutes so it is either five or ten minutes or longer. There needs to be a way to set it up for shorter speeches and increments of less than 5 minutes.
Furthermore, a bigger issue is that the timer starts timing as soon as you are done setting the speech length. This means that you need to set/start the timer AT THE PODIUM. This is not acceptable in public speaking when everyone is watching you to begin speaking. I recommend that there be a way to set the timer beforehand and then have a way to quickly start it at the podium.
In summary it is a nice device but do not buy it because of the fancy timer.
Customer Review: A must for presenters! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know what I did before I purchased this cordless presenter. I like to move about my audience when I present and now I am free to do so.
It has a nice long range and the laser pointer on its own is useful. I had no trouble finding the buttons to advance and reverse my slides as the Logitech is very simple and only has the essentials.
I am still on the first battery I put in it a few months ago and it is stil going strong. One of the reasons I chose this model was that it took regular AAA batteries. It also displays the battery strength on the little LCD screen and vibrates when you turn it on so you will know if it still has juice.
It does have a timer that you can set in 5 minute increments. When it goes off it vibrates just like a cell phone. Very easy to set. I have set it while in the middle of a presentation to remind myself to stop talking in 5 minutes. It then buzzes at the 2 minute and 1 minute mark.
In all, a simple and useful product. One note though, when I purchased this presenter, the cost was much lower (less than half) of what it is as I am writing this review.
Customer Review: Fantastic Presentation Tool Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a middle school English teacher.
Functionality---
It has never malfunctioned on me. Triple A batteries are all it needs, and I've been using the same batteries for a whole quarter of instruction now. The back/forward buttons are sturdy and don't look like they'll wear out anytime soon. The laser pointer works flawlessly.
Ease of Use---
Plugs in and works immediately. No install. Buttons are labeled for logical sense. USB receptor stores easily in back of remote to keep from getting lost. (Make sure to put it in with the little ledge facing up...it can be a booger to get it out if facing down.)
Purpose---
This remote allows me, as a middle school teacher, to walk around the room and be in close proximity to the students who need my proximity. :) Since PowerPoint can be a very effective teaching tool, if used correctly, I can't imagine using PowerPoint in a teaching setting without a remote like this one.
Rating---
The best possible. The most stars. I've been using it 3 months and have zero complaints. Nothing but praise from this teacher.
Customer Review: Great tool for presentations Summary: 5 Stars
I was hesitant about spending >$50 for something I will only use occasionally. (Actually, it was my wife that was providing the hesitancy!) However, I am really pleased with this product.
The only other brand I have had any experience with is Interlink, (which are significantly more expensive than the Logitech). I have used one of their remotes a couple of times. I had no real problems using their remotes but I did notice that there were times when it would not advance on the first click--I would have to click a second time, hoping that it would not suddenly advance two screens. The Logitech has not done this. It always advances on each click. (Distance is not an issue when I present, just in case anyone was wondering if that could be causing the problem.)
One criticism I have seen is that it lacks a "mouse" control. This is not a consideration for me, if it is for you then this is not the one for you.
Another HUGE bonus is the receiver fitting into the unit. It all fits nicely in the soft case.
I am extremely happy with this unit and have already recommended it to two different friends.
Customer Review: Logitech 2.4 GHz presenter Summary: 5 Stars
is nice, small, and works very well: It is enough to plug in a small receiver into any USB port and it works. The receiver is of the size of a small flash drive and is stored inside the presenter. All features like the minute countdown, vibration, laser pointer, etc. work very well and are easy to use. At a recent symposium five different people borrowed my presenter and had no problems at all with using it. I should add that the presenter works not only with PowerPoint, but also with Adobe Reader and Professional - so one can display pdf files, as well as with PCTeX 32 - so one can display dvi and ps files. I suspect it will work with any presentation software like Yap and also with Word -- no problem. The presenter can also adjust volume of played music so if anyone were playing music or a movie on say a laptop connected to an external monitor or projector, it could be another useful feature. As far as the range goes, it provides lots of freedom to move around and allows for moving away from a laptop with the receiver plugged in: 20 - 30 ft presented no problem. I can highly recommend it now.
