Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Linksys by Cisco WUSB600N Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network AdapterCustomer Review: Simple to install Summary: 5 StarsThis is probably the first time I actually followed the direction. Setup was easy. I did note that I was only picking up 51% signal from my LinkSys router. After doing some checking on the Linksys website I discovered that multiple access points as they are in my condo campus that other routers could be the source. That was correct, I changed my wireless router to channel 11 and the signal went to 100%.
Customer Review: This adapter is bad Summary: 1 StarsThe adapter does not work well at all. I tried this with a Linksys WRT610N router. Both the router and the USB adapter had to be returned. They say they have award winning customer support. But the outsourced customer support in INdia and Phillipines were useless. In fact they hung up the phone a couple of time and we could not even trace who the customer support rep was. I bought these for Linksys name but will never buy a Linksys product again.

Customer Review: No luck with Windows XP (professional) Summary: 2 StarsI spent quite a bit of time this morning trying to get this working with my XP laptop.
First, I tried the normal recommended install from the instructions that came in the box. In addition to the driver, this option installs a network monitor utility and a diagnostics tool. The install works without error on XP and requests a reboot at the end. I rebooted, then went into the network tool. Automated setup did not work and manual setup could not see my router.
I brought up the diagnostics tool, and it reported my driver test had failed. From windows, it reported that the driver was functioning properly.
Using the normal windows connection technique does not work. It looks like the installed software disables it. You need to go into the services (my computer/manage/serives and applications/services) and restart Wireless Zero Configuration.
I deinstalled the software and reinstalled using windows directly. This is done by inserting the USB and inserting the install disk when windows prompts for the driver.
This approach did not connect properly either. The driver sees the router but doesn't connect successfully.
I plugged in a wireless g based USB adapter and verified that it was able to connect ok.
I messed around with the security settings on the router and the adapter to verify that the issue was not related to security settings. I tweaked the advanced settings - for the most part, no impact, although when I enabled auto port, it seemed to connect for a couple of seconds.
Next I took the adapter to my Vista PC. I plugged it in and let windows install the driver. Double clicked on the connection after getting the message that windows had installed the driver successfully. No reboot needed on Vista. Manually entered my WPA key and bingo - connected no problem. Worked well and was much faster than the g-based adapter.
Based on this, my current thinking is that the driver is not working right for XP. I'm not sure if everyone trying to use this adapter with XP will have the same experience, but wanted to share what I tried in case anyone else is having the same problem.
Customer Review: Did the job! Summary: 5 StarsThe wireless component in my laptop broke for the 2nd time, so went and got this. I have Windows Vista btw. Anyway, it is easy to install: FIRST place CD in follow the instructions, then when prompted insert Wireless Adapter, let it install it's software, click on "your" router (Be careful because you may click on someone else's; yes with the range I was able to pick up 2 other routers in my neighborhood...hint-hint set up a password if you haven't already done so on your Belkin or whatever router you are currently using) and then you should be set, unless of course you have a password on your network. After you put in your password you should be ready to go. The only time it does stop working is when your computer is in sleep mode or when the computer is off. When the computer is back on, it works just as well if not better than the wireless component in my laptop. Oh, one last thing, you can either plug the adapter directly into your usb port or place it in the dock it comes with it then hook the other end of the usb cable into the usb port. The only thing I miss from my component working in my laptop is the fact you don't have something hooked up to your usb port. Enjoy!
