Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys WUSB600N Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network AdapterCustomer Review: wusb600n Summary: 4 Stars
background information: i am using cable modem, running windows xp pro sp3, my router is a linksys e3000n.
i was looking at this adapter and the pci wireless card. i was favoring the pci card, with double antenna because i thought it would give me greater range but the adapter gave me mobility.
i checked many of the reviews on amazon, before my purchase. the reviews were mixed.
i decided to go with the adapter. i am more than pleased with the resaults. my remote computer via the e3000n router and wusb600n gives me wirelessly the same bandwith as wired and increased range. it is doing this after going through 1 wall and about 25 feet.
i have had this adapter for about 1 month.
i am more than pleased with this adapter. i can now stream movies via hulu and other web sites and view them on my 50 inch hdtv with perfect video and audio.
Customer Review: WUSB600N Works Fine Summary: 5 Stars
Bought the WUSB600N adapter as a replacement to a G level adapter (also Linksys) because the G adapter did not have WPA2 security. So much for backwards compatibility, as the router I used back then - a G level from Linksys - did have WPA2 security. With this purchase, our entire network is on N and hopefully will eliminate any compatibility issues.
The adapter arrived today and we set it up this evening. Just a few minor hitches as the computer the adapter would be attached to has had some problems lately (a 6 yr old computer running XP Pro). However, once it was set up, everything worked fine. Set up file sharing with Network Magic software without a hitch.
So far, no complaints. Will update this review if anything unusual happens.
Sorry about no stars for Win7 64 as all of our computers are 32 bit and none are Win7.
Customer Review: Very disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I am about to return this adapter. It simply doesn't work as well as the "g" type adapter that is provided by my cable company. I have a Cisco E3000 wireless router and purchased the WUSB600N thinking I'd really have a "hot" system. It didn't work when first installed so I got on a live-chat with the Cisco folks. Turns out the first thing we had to do was download the right driver for Windows 7. One would think, given the ubiquity of Windows 7, that the adapter would come with the right driver.
Even after getting the right driver I've been plagued by dropped connections and weak signals. And the 5 ghz band is pretty much useless.
So I'm still using the cable company's adapter, very successfully, and will be returning the WUSB600N (and probably looking for a replacement so I don't have to pay the cable company their monthly fee.
Customer Review: Terrible Product & Support Summary: 1 Stars
I received my Linksys adapter after a lot of research and immediately after receiving it I could not get the drivers to load. Contacted Linksys support got a quick response but due to language barrier we had difficulty understanding each other. After hours on the phone with support and loading the drivers by USB thumb memory on the new computer which didn't solve the problem, they finally decided the item was defective and to send it back to the seller. They also said a tech supervisor would contact me by phone in 10 to 15 minutes, you guessed it! I'm still waiting for that call. Linksys support is as bad as their products. I've contacted them before on other products and if they can't figure it out their answer is to send it back! Also they will tell you a supervisor will contact you and this is only a ploy to get you off the phone.
Customer Review: USB N Connector From Linksys Summary: 4 Stars
I have become attached to my Portable computer, an older Toshiba Satellite and was attempting to upgrade my internet conncection from the older G version to the newer N version. As I use a Linksys N Router, I was a little hesitant to switch to a Belkin N module as I had difficulty in the
past using the Belkin with Linksys products. So I decided to go with the
faster connection capability that Linksys puts on all their products that I have used in the past. It worked effortlessly, but by loading the software before connecting the USB N module, it gave me the ability of using either the 5 or the 2.4 Radio frequencies. This is nice when you
live in an area that has too many 2.4 products jamming the frequency. A great choice to attempt to raise the mps speed of all computers. Definitely worth the low cost.
