Customer Review: A very difficult company to deal with
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a bad company. I purchased a wireless router from them and, truth be told, it never really worked right. The speed was ok, but it was impossible to set up without tech support and every so often it would simply stop working. When that happened I would be forced to call tech support and spend 30-60 minutes on the phone fighting with them about resetting the router. I recently purchased a new computer and decided to save a little money by moving this router to it. When I called tech support I was told that the router was out of its warranty period and they could not help me... unless I would pay them to. That's right, I would have to pay for the assistance on their product - a working product because it was not under warranty.

So be warned that you are only buying the option to use Linksys' products for a limited time - that is if you have any problems whatsoever that require tech support. I am now trying a Trendnet. Let's see if they are any better.

Customer Review: Go with the WRT610N instead
Summary: 2 Stars

I had two of these (one as a replacement for the other) and both of them were unable to maintain connections on wireless for more than about a day at a time. I did not experience the overheating that others have, but a couple laptops and a Linksys WET610N wireless Ethernet bridge would all frequently lose connection to the Internet or lose the wireless connection entirely. The laptops would eventually reconnect on their own, but the bridge required a power cycle each time. I got my money back and got the WRT610N, which so far has been fine. It has been running for a couple weeks without dropping a connection. The speeds are not what I expected from wireless-n, but some of that may be interference in the house. The WRT610N also has gigabit WAN if your Internet connection is over 100Mbit like some companies that offer fiber to the home are able to produce. It's more expensive than the WRT310N, but so long as it stays stable, it's better.

Customer Review: Not worth the headache
Summary: 2 Stars

After spending hours trying to get my PSP and PS3 to connect to this router, I found some settings that seemed to work. For a little while anyways. Then the connection either drops by itself randomly, or I just can't connect at all and have to reboot the router. I've even tried the standard 20 MHz radio band on channel 1, with wireless-B only selected and it still has issues. My old D-Link router was wireless-B on the same channel and I could connect every time and never get dropped. I think I'll just send this one back and stick to my D-Link. On a positive note though, the gigabit wired connection works pretty well.

Update: I picked up a Netgear WNR3500 wireless gigabit router yesterday. Took it home, plugged it in and in ten minutes I had everything connected and working perfectly. I'm still in shock, this thing JUST WORKS with zero issues. Still scratching my head why the Linksys gave me such a hard time, avoid this Linksys!

Customer Review: Disappointed with Signal Strength Obtained by Adapter
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product to replace a Linksys G-router which started giving me frequent disconnections (about every minute or so). I decided to upgrade to this N-router thinking I would have MUCH better and faster speed. WRONG....With the G-router and G-adapter, I always had a strong signal from where my desktop computer was in relation to my notebook computer. With the N-router and N-adapter, I now have a "LOW" signal.....same computers, same locations, etc. I even went out and bought another identical N-adapter but had the same results. I spent several hours configuring the channels, etc., including using Linksys' Chat service. Nothing solved my problem. Tomorrow, however I'm going to solve my problem by taking all of this back and getting a different router and adapter, whether by Linksys or another company, I'm not sure yet. I do know that I was VERY disappointed with this router and the adapter.

Customer Review: Invalid URL & DNS issues, No fixes from Linksys by Cisco
Summary: 1 Stars

Shortly after I started using the Linksys by Cisco WRT310N router I started getting invalid URL error messages from both my wired desktop and wireless laptop. Very annoying. When I connect my desktop directly to my service provider's modem everything works fine. Hook the router back up and I start getting invalid URL error messages again. I searched the web but could not find a solution. I searched Linksys by Cisco's customer support site and found other people having the same problem. NOT a good sign. I could not find a solution at Linksys by Cisco's customer support web site. A worse sign. I am not a networking guru, nor do I want to become one to fix this problem. The best solution I found was from another frustrated Linksys by Cisco WRT310N router buyer who returned his in favor of a Netgear WNDR3700 and has not had any problems since. I'm going to return my POS router tonight!
