Customer Review: Save yourself from techy hell, don't buy it.
Summary: 1 Stars

As I am writing this review, the router is disconnecting me randomly because it is that awful. This router is horrible. Don't buy it, that's the gist of it. You will want to put your head through a wall before you even reach tier 2 tech support. Wired connections are fantastic, I can transfer large files with my gigabyte port with ease. But other than that, it's been awful. I did everything but create my own Linksys WRT300N voodoo doll in hopes of making it work properly.

I'm a tech savvy person, I've dealt with at least half a dozen routers since and this one is the WORST. After hours of scouring the internet for fixes, updating firmwares from Linksys and third parties, its wireless for most of my computers and appliances is sketchy at best. PS3, Wii, Dell laptops, none of them can establish a sustained wireless connection and if it does its speed is horrible, the WRT54G router my neighbor is using seems to have better range most the time and my computers apparently prefer connecting to the old and busted than this new hotness. The only thing that works is my desktop running a Linksys wireless adapter. It might have been the only one they bothered testing this router with. I should have bought a $30 mystery router instead.

Customer Review: Cumbersome Linksys Router
Summary: 1 Stars

My Linksys router ultimately functions as advertised, but its "Quick Install" disc and accompanying instructions are ludicrous. Although I am quite able with electonics, several attempts at installing my Linksys router using its "Quick Install" instructions, as supplemented by "Help" instructions contained in its "Linksys Advisor" and the Linksys Web site, wasted many hours. Knowing the process would waste even more time (this happened with a prior version of Linksys router), I finally resorted to Linksys "Tech Support," where I first dealt with a barely literate woman somewhere in India who labored through spelling my name, understanding the serial number of my product, etc. and generally taking a great deal of time before disconnecting me without providing a case number so that on my next call (apparently Linksys operators are not allowed to make calls even though I had been previously asked for my phone number), there was no case number to supply the next operator. So we again struggled through "can you spell your name (yes, I've been able to do that since age 3), etc. and then taking a very long time to help me initiate operation of my Linksys router, something that was advertised as being short and simple.

Customer Review: Not worth the effort and time. Wireless does not easily work.

Nice review by small forest.

I was able to get this router set up within a matter of 5-10 minutes. The CD that it comes with is one of the best setup tools I have ever used. Nice work by Linksys as far as initial setup of the router goes. This is where the accolades end.

Although I was able to connect my "wired" devices easily, "wireless" devices were not able to get past the router. After spending two nights trying everything that I could thin of I finally gave in and made the call to Linksys. After three hours of trouble shooting and making the same "hidden changes", Linksys came to the conclusion that I had two options. They acknowledged that there is a problem and that they are aware of it. I could return the router or I could wait until they release another firmware update (with no guarantees).

Oddly enough, after going through all of the troubshooting ideas they had my "wired" connections were toasted and the power light will not stop flashing.

Well the router is going back.

I think Linksys is a good company. They rushed this one to market too quickly and had I read the forums first I would have chose differently.

Lesson learned.

Customer Review: To N or not to N, makes not much of a difference
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this item yesterday. Tested it and was having quite a bit of issue with connecting my wireless. I changed the config based on "lionpol" finding and it helps a bit. At the end of the day I found out that my laptop for some reason doesn't support PSK eventhough its a xp SP2. I also have to change the radio band from auto to Standard to make it works. In short if you have a mix and match environment like mine this router perhaps may not be the best for you. Also if you are not too technically savy, this item will frustrate you. Speed wise is a major disappointment. There's no improvement at all compared to my crappy d-link. I'd direct you to Belkin Pre-N instead if you ARE NOT using the VOIP in your house or office since Belkin Pre-N doesn't support the VOIP (even though the brochure claim the do. I found out about it from calling their tech support and doing a major search on internet) but their speed and distance is superb. Perhaps one day when Link-Sys release the firmware up to 2.x then hopefully you'll see the improvement. For now, its a new product and I would say it should still be in Beta release instead of full release. This product is not ready for the Pre-N market.

Customer Review: Not worth the money!
Summary: 3 Stars

Not sure why this is still over 200 dollars! This device isn't worth 25 dollars.

It does have wireless and wired capability but the wired is only 10/100 and wireless is worse than ALL the "B" devices on the market.

PROS:
It's a pretty blue color
It's easy to setup
It's got cosmetic antennas and dials to make it look real fancy.
Stands up.
has colorful lights
does work to connect Wired and wireless and is pretty stable (99.9% up time)

CONS:
--no gigabit network (it was out for over 3 years before this what's up)?
--POOR RANGE
--FAIR SPEEDS, if you connect (great if you don't have a matching adapter).
--Takes up a bunch of room with the cosmetic junk on top (it does nothing for performance).
--EXTREMELY HIGH PRICE TAG
--Install puts a bunch of junk on you machine that you have to uninstall.
--Works POORLY with the matching Wireless N card (better to use "G" and different brand)
--Customer service is POOR
--OLD technology works and out performs this device.

Don't waste your money on this. Find something that has wired gigabit and wireless.
