Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys WPC600N Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N PC CardCustomer Review: Pure junk, stay away!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this card because I was so impressed with my brothers new laptop with wireless-N on my new Cisco WAP4410N, I wanted N for my 2008 Toshiba laptop. I was a little shy to buy a Linksys wireless card, because when I worked for a computer shop as a repair technician, we had nothing but issues with the Linksys PCMCIA cards.(pre-2006) and always had to return them for Netgear cards(Wireless-G). We had hundreds of unsatisfied customers we would setup home networks for, we had to switch to Netgear cards and wireless routers with no issues. Well, this still holds true for this card as well. It is pure junk and is a useless piece of hardware, living up to it's regular self as I grew to know Linksys. Cisco did themselves no favors buying this company and putting their branding next to the Linksys name. Do not let the quality name Cisco fool you into buying a Linksys. They are still as bad as they were before Cisco bought them. The card loses it's configuration, constantly failing to 1Mbps. It loses the card all together in device manager for no rime or reason. To be safe, I returned it and got another, same effect, I even reinstalled Windows XP to a fresh sp3 install to no avail. Even though it connects @ 130Mbps per the tray icon, I only get 5Mbps if I'm lucky on my WAN connection to Comcast. While my on-board Wireless-G gets the 20Mbps I'm paying for. I tried just installing the latest device drivers and not using the Linksys crappy wireless manager, it was a little more stable, but still would disconnect from device manager for no reason what so ever on both cards. I tried an old Netgear PCMCIA Wireless-G card I had laying around, got the drivers from there website, no issues for days so it's not my PCMCIA slot which has the latest drivers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD!!!!!
