Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys WMP54GS Wireless-G PCI Card with SpeedBoosterCustomer Review: Easy installation, great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I put this in a Dell Dimension w/Windows XP going to a Motorola wireless router connected to a broadband modem and an older Gateway w/XP computer. The Dell is about 40-50 feet from the router. No more cables running through the house! This works excellent. Easy to install, great signal. A storm blew out my regular network card and I overheard someone mention wireless?! Did a little research and got this one with a $20 rebate. Only took a very few minutes. Used Linksys products before and have always had good luck with them.
Customer Review: XP USERS, DO NOT INSTALL SOFTWARE ON DISC Summary: 3 Stars
Do not use install disc to install driver. I did as cd said and installed software before I plugged in the card. BIG MISTAKE!! The monitor program that comes with install disc made my system freeze repeatedly. When it wasn't frozen, it ran extremely slow. After researching the issue, I found that you should just plug in the card then have windows find the driver on the cd-rom. Do not use the install feature on the disc. It will save you tons of time and frustration. The card works and has no trouble finding my Airport extreme.
Customer Review: It works... kind of Summary: 2 Stars
The card works but DO NOT INSTALL the software that comes with it.
Install the care (machine off) turn it on and let windows do its thing. If it needs a driver put the CD in and point it to the driver. DO NOT INSTALL the software.
The software eats up memory, refuses to turn off, would not uninstall (even in safe mode), randomly lost network connection (even though it said it was fine), and resulted in many other problems in the registry and network devices.
Good work Linksys, or Cisco.
Customer Review: Quick and painless Summary: 5 Stars
This works great - just like it should. I'm using a speedbooster router too, and it does seem to speed things up a lot. Even with multiple wirless items running (6 total wireless devices on one router), I can easily get sustained speeds of 800+ kbps with a couple hundred connections open and full encryption running. If I bump up the total simultaneous connections much above 200 it seems to start dropping signal, but that could be my ISP limiting me too. Regardless, this works far better than the "B" wireless it replaced.
Customer Review: Great Card!! Summary: 5 Stars
The Linksys Wireless-G network card is great. I had no problems installing the card with Windows Vista: 64 Bit. Although problems did arise when I tried to install the card drivers, but that is just vista being vista, I got it to work without the software and it works just as good. Other than that.. The card is great, my connection is always very good, and I never lose signal now. (My last card was a gigabyte and I'd lose signals every 10 minutes or so) This card is most def. a recommended if your router is far away.
