Customer Review: Buggy, Unstable Step Backwards . . .

I suppose I should lead off by saying that I've returned this product and went with a Netgear WNDAP350 instead. Which was much more expensive. On the other hand, it's also infinitely more reliable.
When is dual-band not dual-band? When Cisco\Linksys do EITHER 2.4GHz OR 5.0GHz (but not BOTH).
After replacing my WAP54G with this P.O.S. I had connectivity issues with all of my equipment. Wii? Drops. Windows? "Poor" signal strength 2 feet away. Mac? periodic disconnects, particularly if there was any real traffic volume (can you say "Time Machine to Time Capsule"?) Nothing worked reliably. 2.4GHz was as bad as 5.0, and vice-versa. Repeated factory resets intermixed with tweaking of every possible setting on the unit (which is less sophisticated than the WAP54G was - WPA1 can't be set to AES only, even though WPA1+TKIP is known to be partially broken) all failed to improve matters one jot. I even got to the point where I started replacing WLAN adapters on the clients with Cisco\Linksys dual-band ones on the off chance there was some obscure proprietary interop issue with the unit. No joy.
Eventually, I gave up on this unreliable, buggy piece of garbage. and got a Netgear. for most of you, the WNDAP350 is probably overkill; There's a 330 which should meet most people's needs. Now everything works fine. Same location, same cables, same SSID, just the AP has changed.
Linksys seems to have been thoroughly 'Cisco-ized' at this point; They're reducing their consumer product line to 'toy' quality levels so as not to undercut their business line products. This is a shame, because at one point they (Linksys) were quite good, and were my preferred product manufacturer. no more; I will not be buying anymore of their products.
So, review summation in two words: Steer clear.
