Customer Review: Linksys Support
Summary: 4 Stars

Just thought i'd add my 50pence worth.

I've had to use Linksys UK phone support on numerous occasions. My father uses the Linksys wireless router to connect with his AOL account (always a tricky one with AOL independent software) and the Tech Support was amazingly efficient.

On my own Linksys router at home, I had some problems setting up P2P software and again rang them. The Tech support is the one of the best i've seen. I've not had to wait in the queue and can talk to someone straight away.

Compare this to Palm (i bought a Palm PDA) and their support is horrendous. Extremely difficult requiring complicated registration procedures before you even get near the help. Palm is crap for support.

Customer Review: Bugs in firmware
Summary: 1 Stars

The minor problem is that the user manual claims the user ID is "admin". Well, it is not. Frustration and wasted time will occur until you somehow find out that the user ID should be left blank to log in.

The major problem is that the unit only works for twelve to 36 hours before it has be rebooted. After twelve to 36 hours it looses the connection to the wireless network. Once you unplug and plug back the power cord, it will work fine for another twelve to 36 hours. I am used to rebooting Windows every time it hangs, but I don't accept having a Wireless Access Point that hangs (I am not sure how Microsoft was able to convince me it is OK for an OS to hang). This box is going back. I already bought a Buffalo that works fine.

Customer Review: Incompatible with other vendors; poor signal quality
Summary: 2 Stars

This is my second disappointment with Linksys products.
I have purchased this AP to use in AP client mode connected to my Netgear WGR614 wireless router. The product comes with no user manual or technical specifications sheet. After spending some time trying to set up connection I have found user manual on Linksys web site, and discovered that AP client (as well as AP repeater) modes are supported only with another Linksys Access Point. It's not compatible with other vendor's products.
When I tried to use it in Access Point mode, the signal was 2-3 times weaker then my old Netgear's.
I am getting Very Good to Excellent signal quality from Netgear WGR614 (36-54 Mbps) and Good to Very Good (11 to 24 Mbps) from WAP54G...

Customer Review: Easy set up
Summary: 4 Stars

I support the network at a local school. I've installed 8 of these AP for wireless access. They are easy to setup and they work. Note, I don't use the software setup utility. I log in to the AP and set them up manually. So, I can't really say how the sw set up is to work with. But, the web-based manual setup is easy and works well. Are building are long metal structures and the coverage is good considering the material construction of the building. The most difficult thing about using AP devices is getting power to them. The device itself works great.

Linksys looses 1 star (4 instead of 5) for NOT labeling the AC adapter. At least put Linksys on it. Yes, a piece of tape and sharpie marker works...

Customer Review: This is a great WAP
Summary: 5 Stars

I first bought one of these for work. We needed wifi quickly, and just went to Best Buy and picked one of these up. I first upgraded to the latest firmware before anything, and had the thing set up and configured in less than 15 min. I have bought two more of these for my own personal use - I love that I can use it as a wireless client as well as access point. I have an entire network segment at home plugged into one of these in client mode so I didn't need to purchase cards for every computer in that area. I have never had problems with my own 2, but occasionally (every few months or so) the one at work will freeze. Not a big deal though, cycle the power and you're up and running. I highly recommend this product.
