Customer Review: Adding that power adapter made easy

As discussed in several reviews, one cannot find the power adapter mentioned for this device. Of course it's only needed if the USB port needs more power (others don't even necessarily give you the option). I asked Linksys about the specs on that power adapter. They said:
Output 5V DC 2.1 Amps
Type of Jack SMALL BARREL
AC input 100~120V
I found by measurement that the inside of the barrel is positive.
So I added one and things work fine.

If you really need a USB hub then this one will do it for ya. I bought it, I have used it at work, at home, on my laptop, etc. Because it is a usb device it works with PC's and Macintosh's alike. It is small and fits neatly into a purse, or a laptop case. It is your basic hub that does what it is supposed to do: give you more options when dealing with multiple devices. You can't beat the price and it is a Linksys - which means Quality.I can happily recommend this product.

Simply put when it comes to travel and using my Sony Vaiao which only has two USB ports this is a great product. Remember to use the power on your laptop though as this is not powered (it does have a power adapter point)and if any of your tools needs usb pwer it will drain extrememly quickly.
Fairly large though and the cable is shorter than I use for the desktop, and hangs in mid air.
Oveall a good product for what it's designed, laptops ...

I bought this hub because of the Linksys name and didn't need a power input. Agree it is kind of chunky, looks pregnant enough to give birth to a USB cable jack!! Please note that if you need USB 2.0 this hub is not compatible. When I plugged in my Fujitsu Scanner I kept getting alerts saying I wasn't getting optimal speed to/from the scanner so I just plugged in my Mouse and Keyboard into the Linksys, and plugged the Fujitsu into a USB port on the PC and all was fine.Customer Review: glenjwc23

I believe this item was designed with laptops in mind. I am using it with a DELL 4100 Tower PC. I have the Linksys Hub connected in the back of my PC via a 6 foot Belkin F3U133-06 USB Device Cable. This allows me to place this hub on top of my PC (under the desk) or hang it from a hook above my desk for easy access. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the cable end is too short for easy access when being used on a tower PC (or any full sized PC) under a desk.
