Customer Review: Nifty little tool but the door will break

Its a nifty little tool and when I saw it at office depot; I bought it because i liked the design.
however, the design gets in the way of functionality. The nifty little door on the back is very prone to breaking and mine broke when it fell on the ground (hey this is travel accessory; it is supposed to fall on the ground). it would not have been so bad if it was just the door that will break. The device is designed in such a way that there is no way to hold the ethernet wire in place if the door is broken !!
so its now useless for me.
please dont buy it. the door will break (and soon) and then it will be no good.

Yes, what others say is true. The door will break, eventually. I have had mine for 3 years and the door has just came off, but I was able to snap it back in place. It is loose though. As for holding the cable securly, I have never had the problem of it comeing loose, when the door was completely intact.
So the bottom line is: the product works well, but it is not something you will have for "many years to come." It does travel well, though. I have dropped it a couple times and nothing has happened.
Would I buy it again, no. There are other prodcuts available that I believe will work just as good and last longer.

I'd love to review this product, but I can't review a product I don't have. When I ordered, the webpage said "hurry, only one left!" so I hurried...
I also ordered a small filler item in order to get over the $25 mark for free shipping.
THE VERY NEXT MORNING, my filler item was here!
Unfortunately, my network adapter wasn't (and still isn't, over a week later). But they are STILL claiming to have only one left. LIARS!
So, great, speedy service on shipping the filler item that I don't give a damn about. Too bad they can't be honest about their stock.

This device worked OK, although I am not sure how high the through-put is. I had it for almost two months and had only disconnected it once. The last time I disconnected it, the RJ45 connector was more difficult to remove than I remember it was the first time, and then the cable would not latch. It would latch but as soon as the cable flexed a little it would pop back out. In the process of trying to get it to latch the little door broke. Linksys says they do not repair them and it was not covered by warranty so I threw away $30+. I would not recommend purchase as the RJ45 connection is very flimsy.Customer Review: Works but fragile

I bought this accessory about 5 years ago to connect my TiVO to a wired internet connection. It was the only such adapter available at BestBuy when I bought it. It worked well but the design is poor in that it does not keep a reliable connection and once the door breaks off (which eventually will happen, it is not very rugged), no amount of duct tape will salvage it.
I am trying a D-Link adapter next - hopefully with more reliable results.
01/07/2010 UPDATE: I have been using my D-Link adapter for several months now and it works like a champ and is much better quality.
