Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys PSUS4 PrintServer for USB with 4 Port Switch

Customer Review: PSUS4 works fine!
Summary: 4 Stars

I am not a tech-savvy person but with a little help from Linksys rep and the product manual, I was able to hook up my Dell PC running XP and two other home-made pc's running on Vista without much problem. I admit that I'd not have figured out how to work this print server with Vista pc without the exact instructions from Linksys rep. In addition, the ports in the back provides for additional pc connections. I have WRT54G also and both Linksys products have been very good in my experience. I recommend this print server for wired networks--I have not tried using this for any wireless devices yet.

Customer Review: Not Vista compatable - lousy tech support, non-functional
Summary: 1 Stars

This item is not Windows VISTA compatable - and you don't know that until Chapter 5 of the intall manual or by going to their web site where they state they have no intention of building Vista drivers. Despite this, I tried tech support- after two hours on chat, the support guy said it was my printers problem. I returned this and will NEVER buy another Linksys product as long as I live. (Note: I bought a D-Link print server and in less than an hour had it installed on one Vista computer and four XP based machines, linked to three different printers- less than half the time I wasted with Linksys)

Customer Review: Great product and very easy to set up!
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldn't be more happy with my purchase of this product! I don't think you can beat the product features for the price. I gave myself 2 hours to set this up and only needed about 45 minutes after loading the software on both of my home computers. It printed flawlessly from both computers on the first try. In addition, I attached one of my computers to this switch. I was anticipating problems since it is piggy-backed to 2 other linksys 4 port routers. Again, I no issues at all. I would recommend this anyone who asks. I hooked this up to a HP Deskjet 5550.

Customer Review: Works as a switch, but flakey as a PrintServer
Summary: 1 Stars

As others have noted, this little gem will NOT work with multi-function printers. I could not get it to acknowledge the presence of a Dell 720 Photo Printer either. It did work for a short time with a Canon 4100, but lost connectivity and hasn't worked since the second day of use. I have purchased seven Linksys devices for my network, Hubs, Routers, Switches, Print servers. This is the third device that has either not worked at all or quit working within a week of installation. No more Linksys for the network, something, anything else has to be better.

Customer Review: Horrible support, subpar product
Summary: 1 Stars

I really wanted to like this little thing, but it just plain doesn't work. Sure, you hook up a, say Deskjet 990C and it works. Then you try a Photosmart 7960 and it doesn't even register. Point is, very few 'new' printers are working (not to mention the bidirectional status support, or lack of). Linksys is well aware of this and has their secret littlet list of what's supported. Of course, their support is (and always has been) abysmal. If you hoped Cisco would change things at Linksys, you were mistaken. Not worth the time or effort. Frustrating.
