I own an older Lexmark X5470 All-In-One printer/copier/FAX/scanner that can use these larger capacity ink cartridges.
Yes they hold more ink meaning fewer cartridge changes, but in turn they cost more. If you were to conduct a specific
study of how much they cost divided by how many printed pages you could obtain a cost per page. But since each page uses
a different level of a specific color of ink you would need to know the number of characters the cartridge printed before
it ran dry. Even that might be skewed by a particular printer being more/less ink efficient. If we knew the exact quantity
of ink in each cartridge then we could determine the price per ounce of ink. All way to complicated and time consuming,
because I believe my time has value.
I priced these cartridges all over, Amazom, Lexmark (which tries to bait you in with a return the empties deal and you get free
ones back after 5)I'm not convinced the ones I get are new anyway. For me it came down to shipping, which has gone through the
roof. That's why I selected Amazon I always select "standard shipping" and do not care if it comes in the mailbox instead of UPS.
Amazon was the cheapest, considering shipping at other vendors, and I did not have to sign up for some hinky-rigged to annoy you
with spam e-mails (yes I know you can block them but its a hassel) offer from Lexmark. These printers are like cell-phones, they
are nothing but made in China plastic crap. Made for next to nothing, its the "service" or "cartridges" that nickle & dime you
to death.
They work well, seem to give longer service, worth the extra $$, who knows. I'm stuck with them as long as I own this printer.
