Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of LensPEN Lens Cleaning SystemCustomer Review: Great lens cleaner Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this based completely on feedback and I wasn't disappointed. It's a bit larger than I had thought it would be but that's fine.
One end has a very soft retractable brush. The other has a "polisher" with some sort of black carbon powder. As the instructions say, use the brush to get rid of any big stuff then use the polishing end. I had to use a bit of breath on some tough spots before polishing to get them off, but eventually everything came off and the lens looked good as new.
Very satisfied.
Customer Review: Do these things really work? Summary: 3 Stars
I bought a set of two. It worked ok on my newer lenses (film SLRs - Mamiya, and Fijinon), but then again they were not that dirty. I buy a lot of vintage cameras and I was hoping I can use the lenses for those as well. Not sure if it's because of the lack of coating or fewer layers on some but I don't believe the lenspens made any difference whatsoever. The brush is nice but the felt actually leaves some rubbery residue behind...I will probably stick with the cloth and liquid - at least when it comes down to the older lenses...
Customer Review: This is NOT the authentic Lenspen!!! Summary: 1 Stars
This is NOT an authentic Lenspen cleaning pen. I should have known better by looking at the product picture as it is obviously NOT an authentic Lenspen package. Serves me right for staying up late at nite to put together my wish-list. :p What's even more ironic, is that the device itself doesn't even have its own logo on the clip as shown in the package picture! It's a knock-off of a knock-off? LOL
I may change my rating after testing it out on an old pair of eyeglass lenses or something like that. We'll see.
Customer Review: Decent cleaning device. Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this because of all the hype around them. They are alright and work like they should, a microfiber cloth to me is no different by their cleaning abilities. But due to it's shape, it's easier to use than a microfiber cloth because you won't have to worry about applying too much pressure on the coating of your lens. I still use both anyways. These are handy and do work, but I'll just stick with my microfiber cloth in the future to save money although it's shape causes it to be harder to clean the lenses. I'm not lazy =P
Customer Review: Cheaply made, and not extremely effective Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this as an addition to my cleaning supplies for my camera equipment. Unfortunately, I was surprised how cheaply it was made. Regardless, it still does the job on very light stuff - I could use the brush to wipe away some specks of dust perhaps. However, it wasn't super effective for more than that. I think I'll stick with liquid and cloths (or pre-moistened cloths) to do the work I need. Perhaps someday this tool will come in handy. But I think it will just collect dust on a shelf somewhere. Too bad.
