Customer Review: Does not support fast charging on Nexus One

My Nexus One smartphone, like I believe many others, supports slow or fast charging depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a computer or a power outlet. For the phone to recognize that it should use fast charging, the data pins in the cable should be shorted together. Apparently the ACUSB4 does not do this, as my N1 will only charge in slow Charging (USB) mode when plugged into this device with a normal data cable. For comparison, the USB wall charger that came with my wife's Samsung Vibrant charges my N1 in fast Charging (AC) mode. It would be possible to use a special charging cable to get the same effect, but I don't want to carry around multiple cables.
I expected a charger providing 2A total to get this right, but apparently I was wrong. Other than that, I'm satisfied with it so far.

The price is great.
Nice and small, perfect for travel. I can't see a device like this being any smaller.
Changing the power adapter from one regional variation to another is as easy as pressing a button.
The only downside is that the regional adapter add-ons seem a little wobbly once installed. It isn't actually flimsy, but the wobbliness makes it seem so when pulling the adapter from an electrical socket.
Also, before leaving all of your power adapters at home, be sure to test for compatibility. I have a cell phone with a USB port that requires its own special charger and isn't compatible with any USB charging device. I found this to be the only exception and it is a limitation of my cell phone not being standards-compliant. Works great for everything else.

This charger is great! I go out of town here and there and it's nice to have just 1 charger for all my devices. I know that some multi-USB chargers may not work on some new devices that demands more juice. This is what I was charging at the same time that works:
iPod Touch 4th generation, 20 gig iPod (old school)4th Gen, Bluetooth headset, & my 2008 Smartphone (Samsung i760, which is more like a dumbphone now, but that's another story).
The detachable plugs (prongs) once attached seems pretty solid, but try to be careful with it when it's not attached to the charger. The plastic latches are more exposed and they seem more vulnerable.
I have not tried the other international plugs yet, but I'm assuming they work well.

I got this for a trip to the UK and Europe with iPad 1, iPhone 4 and a digital camera. It's space saving compared to the Apple charger plus adapter that would only have charged one device at a time. The size is what I expected. Good weight. Feels solid. The international adapters snap in with a reassuring click and stay in until button releases them. There is an indicator light.
Two minor gripes are:
It would be nice for the adapters to be labeled for region. I had to look online and mark them with a silver sharpie.
There are no instructions or warranty included. You must go online and enter the model number and date of purchase along with all your personal info just to view the warranty. This is unacceptable.

I love this adapter. Definitely buy this over any other charger. Works well with the IPOD touch 2nd gen with no problems. You can use the ipod while charging with no issues. I also have an old Zen vision M player that I had bought a USB charger for long ago and I no longer need that accessory now because this charger works just as well. I'm tempted to find every USB chargeable thing in my apt to see if this is compatible (ie the PS3 controller).
I would definitely recommend this item. The price is more reasonable than Apple's adapters. It does the same thing and it has the add on bonus of several outlet options for traveling. I haven't used them yet but I bet it'll be handy this summer when I'm abroad!
