Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of LaCie Rugged All-Terrain 250 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/800 Portable External Hard Drive 301291Customer Review: It's all about the interfaces Summary: 4 Stars
Having the three choices for connecting is why I bought it. I have 3 partitions on it. One for external Mac boot (think Firewire 800), second for Time Machine (Firewire 400 from my MacBook), and the third for data (USB or Firewire take your pick). Great product.
Customer Review: Good but . . . Summary: 3 Stars
This is a good portable drive. Works fairly fast. Pretty reliable. But it gets warm really fast. You can put a piece of toast on it to keep it warm. It's bulkier than other portable drives. Nice that it has multiple connections. USB and firewire.
Customer Review: LaCie 250 GB Hard Disk Summary: 4 Stars
Worked like a charm! Hooked up via USB and then dragged and dropped files! Have yet to use the software and backup daily but that is the plan. The Hard Drive is rugged and can be brought anywhere for backup or restore purposes!
Customer Review: Problematic Firewire 800 port Summary: 3 Stars
Bought this drive to use with my Macbook Pro (unibody) which has a firewire800 port. The drive would unmount itself intermittently which makes it pretty much unusable. When I connected it using USB2 it worked perfectly.
Customer Review: Best sturdy portable drive I've ever used Summary: 5 Stars
Works each and every time, I completely trust this drive. I tour on music festivals as a photographer so the fact that this drive is completely sturdy means its perfect for what I need. I highly recommend this product.
