Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of LaCie Hard Disk 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive designed by Neil Poulton 301304UCustomer Review: lacie hard drive review Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered the lacie 1tb backup to work with my imac to do autobackups through my time machine. The first hard drive was NOISY and slow - it only backed up correctly the first attempt and then went down hill after that. I returned it. Also, I wish the usb cable that connects the hard drive to my computer was longer - in my desk I can tuck it away - out of my sight and earshot - not able to with this 8in cable. I returned through amazon - amazingly simple - made life pretty easy on my part to send it back. I received a replacement in a timely fashion and haven't had any issues with it - however it has only been hooked up for 1 week. The second is much more quiet. I'm not at the point to recommend this product yet - however Lacie was recommended to me by another mac user - so that's why I gave it a second try.
Customer Review: Beautiful and Functional! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this hard drive based on the reviews I saw on Amazon and from some of the other Mac sites. I'm a Mac user and needed a large external hard drive for my iTunes store for Apple TV. This took care of my challenge nicely. The design of the drive enclosure is spectacular, I can't say it any other way. LaCie and Neil Poulton did a fantastic job at a very clean yet dramatic design while making it very functional.
Obviously since I'm using a Mac, it was just a matter of plugging it in, launching Mac's Disk Utility and setting up the drive the way I wanted it. I was up and operational in about 15 minutes from the package. Its been in service now for 3 weeks running 24/7 with no issues. The nice thing is its so nice looking, I keep it out in the open so there's good air-flow.
Customer Review: I trust Lacie Summary: 4 Stars
I've had a Lacie hard drive for almost three years now and it's never given me any problems (knock on wood). When I went looking for more hard drive space I looked around and I thought the Lacies had the best reviews within terms of reliability (which is the most important thing to me). I did have to send the first Lacie back because it wouldn't read anything and kept saying error, but they sent me one within a few days and it's worked fine. I have noticed people saying it's loud and gets hot but it's really not noticeable to me - every hard drive is like that to some extent. If your going to travel around with it I would recommend a case because it would definitely break if I dropped it. This is the one i bought for 16.99:

Good hard drive - buy it.
Customer Review: Great product, installs easilly, and looks good..... Summary: 5 Stars
This unit was extremely easy to install, it was hooked up and running within 15 minutes of it's arrival. My computer runs on Vista 64 bit, and I was expecting a bit of difficulty. All it entails is making the connections, plugging it in, and turning it on. Vista recognized it, opened a window for the software installation wizard, and in a few moments it was ready to go. I moved some HD video to it, and test played a movie in 1080p, no problems.
I purchased this drive to store HD video captured from DishNet. There has been no problem at all, my video plays and burns as easily as if it were still in the internal hard drive.
This unit looks great as well, almost like a shiny VHS cassette box.
Everything nessary is included in the box.
Customer Review: Not a good Lacie experience Summary: 2 Stars
This drive failed within a few weeks of owning it. My inexpensive media storage immediately jumped by $80 when I had to by data recovery software for a bunch of iTunes movies. (I know can't blame LaCie for not backing up my data, but I can be annoyed that it failed.) Then I had to spend 45 minutes waiting for an agent to get a return authorization, another few minutes making a special trip to the post office to ship it back (and I paid for the shipping, natch) and the topper was that Lacie returned it via FedEx and required an in-person signature. Since I'm not at home during the day (who is?), I had to spend another 45 minutes making a special trip the FedEx distro center.
All told, this was a big pain. I don't plan on buying Lacie products again.
