I'm an end-user, not a real tech-person. And there is nothing I love better than a product that tells you to plug it in and it will work just fine. I did and it does. Suddenly I have a terrabyte of trustworthy storage on my desk for my years and years of digital and digitalized photos. (I have been shooting RAW for two years and my "C" drive was gagging.) I also store off-site but it is a pleasure to tell Lightroom and Photoshop to look for the good stuff on my LaCie. And, when I finally decide to switch over to a MAC some day,the LaCie can quickly change its loyalty with me.Customer Review: Excellent buy

I owned a 250GB LaCie Triple Interface drive for 3 years and I was very happy with it. When the time came to buy a 1TB disk, I originally chose the LaCie Big Extreme+ (301199U) because it was substantially cheaper. I returned it after 1 week because: a) the drive was much bigger than it looked in the pictures; and b) the fan was always active, even in standby mode.
I bought this drive in its place, and I couldn't be happier. It is much more compact and fanless, thus extremely quiet.
Definitely recommended unless the higher price is an issue.

Purchased LaCie product to store my iTunes. Within one week the drive crashed. I called customer support and they refused to help me and honor the warranty. I eventually (year and a half later) reset the entire drive after finding no other option to save or retrieve my files, losing 10,000 songs. I began reloading the library and the system crashed again. LaCie refused to help saying the warranty had expired, but had I purchased one now, they had an extended warranty. I ordered this 1TB hard drive to backup my pictures, music and movies form other hard drives with Carbon Copy Cloner. I like the multiple interface I can daisy chain my 500GB rugged to the FW800 port and works perfectly. I didn't install the backup softwares since they are not compatible with Leopard. The HD turns off automatically when I eject it from Finder which is a good feature but sadly the supplied cables are too short so you won't be able to hide the drive under your desk...Customer Review: works good

I bought Lacie d2 Quadra external hard drive about a month ago.
The hard drive looks very nice and more important works very good and pretty fast. I use the FireWire800 cable (don't have eSATA).
Till now, the only problem I'm facing is that sometimes after rebooting my machine, the drive is not automatically recognized, and I need to turn it off and on again in order to be added to the drives list.
I would recommend it to my friends.
