Customer Review: Good value - without the sound quality some might need.

Here's the upsides and downsides I found with this mic:
UPSIDES:
- Great price: At this price, as long as it works (which it does) it's a good value for folks that use the mic for limited purposes.
- Easiest set up ever: plug it in - and it's ready to go.
- Long connector line: Plenty of mobility to use it where you want.
- Small size: Even though it's probably designed to be attached to one of those bulky old monitors, it's small enough to attach anywhere, even on the edge of flat screens.
DOWNSIDES:
- Inconsistent sound quality: Judging by the other reviews, quality of sound may not be very consistent. For me, it records from about a foot away - but that sounds very muffled and weak. I have put it close to my mouth and then it's pretty clear. This isn't the mic to get if you are using voice recognition software (it doesn't work well for that - get a headset instead), but mine works fine for basic recording.
- Not a USB connector: If you prefer a USB connection, instead of a standard mic plug in this isn't the right choice for you.
BOTTOM LINE: Fine value for those looking for a basic beginner mic, or for those that use their mics primarily for recording and playing back. But, there are probably better choices for those who rely heavily on their mics for quality communications or with voice recognition software.

You get what you pay for. This cheapie mic is is low, low, LOW quality. I'm no sound afficionado, either, just a plain Jane when it comes to these sound items, and I considered it a complete wasted of money. Please note: if you try to return this item to Amazon, they're going to make you pay for return shipping, even if your reason listed is "defective." So if you "buy it to try it," be prepared to eat more than half the cost.
So, what's so wrong with it? First and foremost, it doesn't pick up your voice with any clarity unless you hold it right up to your mouth, and even then, it's not so good. The mic that came standard on my 4 year old laptop does a much better job, which makes this item utterly useless to me, since that's the mic I was trying to replace.
Also, the mic is alot smaller that it looks in the photos; which I guess could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on you, the buyer. But if you're expecting something with a bit of wait to it, enough to keep it seated in the middle of a meeting table, think again. It's light as a feather, and is not going to stay put unless you tape it down. In other words, this is not a good solution for home or office teleconferencing.

All of my reviews are based on my own experience and this is one of the biggest wastes of money I have had.
It does NOT pick up multi voices.
It does NOT sound good on the other end to the listener.
Any positive reviews, are in my opinion, from the seller himself. This is just crap. First, it's about the size of a silver dollar or smaller. The sticky side on the back does not stick well at all. But if the thing WORKED...WHICH IT DOES NOT, I would be fine with that.
I tried this with chat on Warcraft. I tried it with several settings and different users on the other end. No one could hear me, even when I spoke directly into it.
No way this would be good for a group discussion, no way at all.
I can't imagine who wrote positive reviews for this, maybe they get paid to do so or are the seller's alts, or something else, but this is junk.

I was a bit skeptical when I came across this Mic, but for the price, I decided "Heck, why not?". I got it in the mail the other day, installed it (comes with a sticky adhesive back preinstalled, no holder or anything, but that's fine by me) and was immediately blown away and pleased with the quality and sensitivity of this Mic. I typically use my Mic for Ventrillo and Team Speak chats, as well as MSN and other various activities. Previously I was using a headset by Plantronics, but I was tired of having something on my head and dealing with the wires, etc. This sits stuck under my flat panel now (I sit about 2.0 feet from it), and I can speak in a natural volume and tone, and it picks everything up with perfect clarity, detail and volume. It picks up a little of my CPU fan, but it's not bad. For the money, this is a GREAT PERFORMER. This Mic performs closer to some in the $30-$50 range, believe it or not.Customer Review: Little mic packs a big punch!

Someone recommended this mic to me just as I was about to buy a $200 mic. I thought for under $15 I would give it a shot. Was I surprised! I've had this mic for 6 months and use it every day I work and it has not let me down. I plug it directly into my laptop and place it in the middle of the action. It picks up from all directions. I don't use the sticky underside, as I am in a different place every day. I've used it in board meetings with six speakers and two people on the phone with no problem. I could hear everyone clearly. There are some buildings that have bad acoustics, but this little mic still picks up their voice. It may not be as loud as other voices who are closer, but it still gets them. I love this mic so much that I am about to order another one! In my profession it is imperative to have backups of everything you can. And I wouldn't want to be without this mic!
