Customer Review: When it works it's fantastic!
Summary: 4 Stars

A little after when I first bought the mouse elsewhere for less than 1/3 the price (on sale), I was frustrated. The mouse kept losing signal and response between my laptop. I was using it on a smooth surface, but it wasn't glass. I expected the mouse to work on almost any surface besides glass (that's what I expect laser mouses to achieve). I was wrong. Apparently it works on almost any surfaces except smooth shiny ones. So if your workspace is glossy or such, it'll perform badly. However, once I got a mouse pad (I don't like using them) it performs splendidly! I'm now using with my desktop on a faux-wooden surface and it also performs exceptionally. Very responsive, well-made, very long lasting battery. But is it worth the retail price? Well, it's worth the price, but it's not exactly "bang for your buck." I think most mouses are overpriced. Try to buy it on sale, but if you can't, the mouse will perform really well for your needs. If it had more buttons, then it may be truly worth the retail price.

I find the optional software for the mouse unnecessary. Most likely your OS will enable horizontal scrolling automatically. There's really no reason to customize the mouse's functions since the lack of extra buttons prevent much choice. If you want a battery level indicator, there's one built in by way of a light indicator (awesome feature! green=good, PULSATING red=low), making the software even more unnecessary. The power and reset switch, battery cover eject button, and the snap-in receiver all add value to the mouse.

Comfort-wise, I prefer small mice, but I think I have kind of small hands. So, I like the ergonomics of this mouse.

Overall, it's an excellent mouse. Do buy!

Customer Review: This Mouse Feels Just Right
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The price for portability these days is priceless - a nearly so. For the price to purchase the Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse, you're getting yourself quite a deal! I conduct 100% of my work on my an Apple laptop and have grown sick of the trackpad. So getting the Logitech V220 was like winning the lottery. It's fits fantastically in my hand (my hand is on the small side). The ergonomic design ensures a nice fit under my palm. I could see, however, where people with larger hands might run into some issues. The rubber sides facilitate a nice grip. It works well on my Apple laptop, and in fact, I like the feel of this mouse better than the Apple-branded mouse on the market. I love the center wheel, which I use for scrolling Web pages. The mouse's optical tracking is quite accurate, and if you're on a Mac, you can adjust the speed of the cursor and click-rate through your System Preferences. Two things that still somewhat irk me. The USB receiver fits underneath the mouse in a rather awkward way. When fitted under the mouse, it makes the base uneven - this bothers me for some reason; it ruins the sleek lines of the mouse. I also wish the mouse came with a holder or pouch of sorts (this might just be a high-maintenance demand of mine). Otherwise, I love this mouse. I love the size. The feel is sleek and modern. It works as it should. And for the price, you're getting a fantastic deal!

Customer Review: Comparable to Microsoft 4000. Well-built and improved over older models.
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I use my Thinkpad laptop quite a lot, so a reliable wireless mouse that's both low-maintenance and comfortable is very important to me. I have used an older model of Logitech wireless notebook mouse before and frankly I was not too impressed. Compared the said older model with my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000, which has been my mouse of choice for almost a year now, the older Logitech model came up short on a few design considerations. First, the general feel of key presses: Microsoft mouse buttons are very responsive and be clearly depressed with a comfortable amount of pressure; the older Logitech on the other hand felt ambiguous at times - user doesn't know for sure if a button has been depressed. Secondly, the USB RF connector on the Logitech is always loose when reattached to the mouse when not in use, resulting in pre-mature power-drain. Luckily, LogitechV220 has been re-vamped to address just these issues. Now I use my trustworthy Microsoft 4000 and the Logitech V220 almost interchably and not even noticing the difference a lot of the times. And I believe that's a good thing, a well-built mouse should be unobtrusive and becomes almost a natural extension of the computing environment - something that's so natural users don't even realize its presence. In this regard, Logitech V220 has done a tremendous job to up their previous effort.

Customer Review: Good Things Come in little packages
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Good Presentation and packaging, easy instructions with appropriate functionality make this another great little Logitech product.Whilst the V220 is in a basic plastic package,it really is an easy pack to open( different to some Plastic packs that require either a sharp pair of scissors or a carbonite laser),and the "Bend here to open" really does mean that, and you can pop the plastic out around both sides.Install the one(only one) battery in the V220 first,( the button cover for the mouse battery works on a "pop the top" button, and you just place the battery in there; one tip,if you ever need to grab a battery from somewhere, and you don't know if it has power, watch the little led which indicates low power, because you can use it to test any battery you get to see if it has power because it will flash green) Install the SETPOINT software before attaching anything, but have everything ready, and follow the instructions, and you will be ready to go in almost no time.It does everything you need in a mouse, except occupy a lot of space, which is a plus at some conferences. And if you want a slide show wireless remote, or something with a single command, you can have the central scroll do double duty. And in some of the use I have had with this unit I can safely say that line of sight tranmission is not a problem. This is an excellent all purpose basic mouse.

Customer Review: Instructions not needed
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The most difficult thing about getting the mouse to work was getting through the packaging material. The mouse needs no software to get started. I did not read the instructions on setting up the mouse. If I can do this, then anyone can. I plugged the USB receiver into my T60p Thinkpad, snapped the AA battery into the mouse, switched the mouse on and it was ready to go. It rolls smoothly on my mouse pad or wood desk surface. The mouse fits nicely into my hand. The wheel makes scrolling simple.

Although the mouse does not need software, you can download a 60 MB file from the Logitech web site. I looked into this after I got the mouse working. You do need to know whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Following the Logitech instructions for determining this did not yield the answer, but a web search found an easy way to make the determination. I was able to download and install the proper Logitech program. The software adds refinements to mouse operation that I probably will not need since the mouse works well as-is.

The packaging outweighs the mouse. It reminded me of the Russian nesting dolls. There was the Amazon box, about 1.5 x 2.5 ft. Inside that was the Logitech box, about 1 x 1.5 ft. Inside that was a plastic pack, 6 x 8 in. Inside that was the mouse, 2 in x 3 in. Fewer layers of packaging would be better.
