When I purchased this mouse I wasn't familiar with how to rate a mouse on workable distance. I wanted to sit back with my laptop hooked up to my big screen and work from about 8 to 9 feet away. The mouse itself hooked up to my laptop and worked almost instantly because I downloaded drivers for it right away. I like the feel, just about the right size. I like the scrolling.........works fine but what has impressed me the most is being able to sit on the couch and use the armrest to work the mouse. It works great!! The one thing I didn't get was the distance I wanted. The range is limited to about 3 feet at the outside. The price was fine for the ability of the unit but I am going to have to find one that works at a higher frequency range giving me better distance. I would give it a five other than the lack of distance.Customer Review: Works fine for me

Finally that corded mouse died and I could order a new mouse for my work laptop. I was originally looking at laser type ones but the V220 was the only one available at the time of purchase. It is smaller than the mouse I was used to, but not uncomfortable to use. The response and connection has worked fine for the past 3 months. I also agree with other reviews that the battery position is not very intuitive. Also the manual provided in the package is pretty lame, but eventualy sends you to their website for the downloaded software. Although I thought that Logitech did a poor job of telling you which software you actually needed. It seemed to be named something other than what was printed in the manual. Eventualy, I must have picked the right one. Downloaded then installed in order to slow down that holy-fast pointer.Customer Review: Pocket mouse

The Logitech V220 cordless optical mouse is a surprisingly comfortable thing to use, considering how tiny it is. It's about the size of a deck of cards, and nicely shaped to fit the hand. I also like that the drivers seem to be carried on the included thumb drive -- there was no installation disk to mess with when I plugged it in for the first time. The thumb drive slides onto the bottom of the mouse for travel, which also trips a really ingenious little on/off switch, so your battery isn't depleted. When I plugged the mouse in, Vista searched the internet for a driver but couldn't find it. I went to logitech website and downloaded. The cute little mouse works fine now. I like that this mouse has an actual on-off switch that the user can manually turn it off. Sliding the USB connector will also turn of the mouse. (the Microsoft notebook mouse only turns off by snapping the USB connector in-I had to take the battery out when I took the mouse away from the PC by mistake).
Also logitech included the battery. (1 AA). Mouse has LED to indicate if the battery is low. Good packaging as well. Plastic is perforated so it's not too hard to open the package.
The USB stick on this mouse is close to full size. Logitech also has mice with a tiny usb connector (easier to lose).

Over the years I have used at least 4 or 5 different types of cordless mouses for laptops and I can honestly say that the Logitech V220 is the best of the lot, far superior to similar products from Microsoft. It has an on/off switch which surprisingly is lacking on some other models(personally i don't like using the USB receiver to turn my mouse off). Since I can easily turn off the mouse I get extremely long battery life out of the V220. Even more impressive to me is the fact that this little mouse functions on many more surfaces/textures than other mice I have used. I've strayed a couple times but always find myself coming back to this mouse. The one i have is two years old and still going strong under heavy use. My only wish is that someday Logitech releases a lower profile version.
