Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Lexar JumpDrive Lightning 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive JDP4GB-231Customer Review: fast drive and even better with Ceedo Summary: 5 Stars
This is an awesomely fast JumpDrive for a great price! Its 30mb/sec read and 21mb/sec write totally beats the fastest Sandisk at 25/18. It is noticeably faster than my older 1GB Lightning. I highly recommend it.
However, it did not come with PowerToGo (Ceedo) installed. As of this writing there are two "Product Description" sections in the listing, one mentions it and the other does not. It would seem one supersedes the other. I had to download and install Ceedo myself. No big deal to me, really. And anyway, by downloading it I was sure to get the latest version. I did specifically want the Ceedo software. Ceedo is awesome. I have been using it for a year and a half since I got my old 1GB Lightning which came with PowerToGo pre-installed. I am a student and do not have a laptop, but with this 4G JumpDrive and Ceedo I don't need one! I can have my browser with all my own bookmarks and history, along with all my documents, wherever I go. I carry Firefox, Open Office, and the old local version of EverNote. I love it. Note: You may have to learn how to use Ceedo (it's easy) and you must install the Argo software in order to install Firefox such that it does not conflict with the host PC installation.
I did not ding the seller's overall rating in my feedback because I did in fact receive the newest and fastest revision of the device in new original packaging, as advertised. Fast shipping too. I am totally satisfied. I just wanted to advise others that Lexar stopped bundling the Ceedo/PowerToGo software.
Customer Review: Lots of storage... but inconvenient at times Summary: 2 Stars
I used this flash drive for about 6 months for general files that I wanted to move from one computer to another, or just to have as backup. I kept it on my keychain so I would always have it with me (never know when you'll want to take some files off somebody else's computer) and it was great for this and I was glad to have it on me many of these times. It seemed to be plenty fast enough and the 'in use' light was a nice touch, but the software that comes on it was annoying. It sometimes wanted things to be installed or updated, but honestly, I don't know much about this software, I am just looking for a small storage drive. At one point I had music files on the drive that I could never see were there from my home computer. My home computer said the drives were empty, then when I went on another computer, I saw the files sitting there...
Then finally last month the cover on top just totally fell apart into 3 pieces. Most likely because it was always in my pocket being knocked around and squished. I am now looking into getting a USB with retractable top and less software on it.
Customer Review: Lexar Lighting Jump Drive Summary: 2 Stars
Lexar JDP4GB-431 4GB JumpDrive Lightning this product was advertised as having a PowerToGo option which allows you to carry programs right on the jump drive to open files contained on your jump drive; thereby, not needing the host computer to have the programs or leaving any traces ie. temp files on the host computer. This PowerToGo option works on a limited basis; when contacting Lexar their online support had no clue as to the workings of PowerToGo, they directed me to the people who developed the program. Those people provided no support whatsoever. The jump drive itself works well but that is not the only reason I bought it; therefore, they did not deliver as advertised and they don't care to do anything about it.
Customer Review: Blazing speed and highly durable! Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried many a jumpdrive in my day since I work in the computer field. After reviewing many, I decided to try the Lexar 4 GB Lightning and am extremely impressed. The first thing I noticed was how durable it felt and looked. The shiny casing is nice, but when you hold it, you just know it's more durable than most any other jump drive on the market.
This is the fastest jump drive I've ever used. Many jump drives slow way down when transferring small files, except for this one. This one is blazing fast with both small AND large files and/or folders.
I don't use the built-in software, choosing instead to use freeware synchronization software.
All in all, I highly recommend this jump drive.
Customer Review: Good performer Summary: 5 Stars
The 4 GB jump drive is a terrific assistance for those who want to be able to store files in a portable medium.
To this point, the unit fits nicely into its "holder"; I lost the end to my 256 MB Lexar jump drive--most annoying. This system, to this point, seems to work better.
The capacity of the jump drive is a major positive factor. Once one begins to store files that take up space, smaller capacity jump drives can get overwhelmed. 4 GB is more than enough space for my uses.
It takes longer to transfer files than for my old 256 MB Lexar jump drive. On the other hand, that's a small price to pay for the much larger space available.
All in all, I'm a satisfied customer.
