Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Koss KSC75 Portable Stereophone HeadphonesCustomer Review: Well balanced between price and performance Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot use the in the ear style of headphone. I have tried several brands and none of them work for me. Bearing that in mind, I consider these headphones an excellent choice. I have spent large sums of money on others but none have matched this one when you balance the price in there. I had to travel a lot for work and took these with me on my trips. They were comfortable and the sound for me was excellent. I realize that sound quality is actually a very personal and subjective topic so others may disagree. They have not broken or torn. I did purchase a case to hold them while not in use and that may help a lot with their durability. When used while sitting in the airport I could hear the announcements pertaining to my flights and still enjoyed my music. On the plane they are not too bad. Clearly they aren't noise canceling but I still enjoyed my music. Given the price, one could afford to purchase a couple of spare sets as 'failovers'. I advise at least giving them a try and don't immediately write them off due to the low price. If you have tried many headphones over the years with little satisfaction, what is there to lose?
The reason for the 5 stars is the combination of Price and Performance. If they were terrible or cost a lot, I would not have given 5 stars. But, for under $17 at time of last purchase, they are an excellent buy.
Customer Review: great for the gym and outdoor running Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these headphones to use at the gym, and it's been absolutely great. It stays on your ears, they are very comfortable, and the sound quality is good. I even used them in the L.A. Marathon with my ipod shuffle and it worked out perfectly. Some stuff to keep in mind is the fact that it's not spring loaded so be careful, don't pull the behind-the-ear clip back when you're putting them on, just put it over and behind your ear. Also, once in a while I have to take them off because it gets really sweaty and I wipe them down with my shirt. This is no big deal, plus I should mention that I sweat a lot. Some users have reported that the behind-the-ear clip and the speaker break apart which is a simple fix of just pressing it back into its joint; this is true, it does happen and it's easy to put them back. This only happens if you're rough with your headphones. I've used a lot of different headphones at the gym: behind the head streetstyle, ear buds, just to name a few. So I understand how frustrating it can be when you're on the treadmill and u get into that perfect zone where everything just clicks only to have your headphones slide off your ear or pop out, it's very annoying. Try these, they're inexpensive and are totally worth it.
Bottom line:
If you're an active person then this is where your search for headphones ends.
Customer Review: 3.5 stars These are NOT the same as KSC35 Summary: 3 Stars
Just want to make a slight correction to one of the reviews first. I can only comment on the ones I tried. Porta-Pro and KSC35 do have the same drivers, but KSC75 does NOT.
I bought KSC75 recently to upgrade my old KSC35, and the KSC75 sound pretty good for the price, but I would rather go for slightly more expensive KSC35 which sound much better. The KSC75 sound a bit like from inside a bottle, but only *very slightly* so. Base reproduction is also less pronounced than the KSC35's.
KSC75 look nicer and are better designed than KSC35. You can adjust them to fit closer to your ear by bending the metal piece that goes around the ear (KSC35 has it made of plastic that doesn't bend). They fit comfortably with the rubberized cushion around the metal piece. But KSC35 also fit me perfectly well, and I can wear them for hours.
Bottom line - if you want to sacrifice the sound quality but pay a bit less, and get slightly better looking headphones get KSC75. But for the best sound in the price range get KSC35! You can also check out Porta-Pro, they deliver a bit more base than KSC35 (because of their design they push more on the ears) but they have a strange choice of colors and are much less comfortable.
Overall I give:
KSC35: 5 stars
KSC75: 3.5 stars
Porta-Pro: 4 stars
Customer Review: Fantastic long serving phones Summary: 5 Stars
I did not buy them here, rather picked up at Radio Shack a few years ago. I soldered them to my Blackberry cable, then to my IPhone 3Gs cable then to my (latest) IPhone 4Gs cable. As you can tell, I have owned them for a while, as you can tell. These are by far the best portable phones I ever had. They produce fantastic sound, I think better than my Senheiser pair for $70.00. They sound nice and crisp when listening to music. They even have a nice base punch, and plenty of power if you like it loud. I also spend a lot of time on a daily meetings (IPhone), and I don't know what I would do without these. The speech comes out very clear and it is easy to make out what other people are saying (when ATT is not mangling the quality).
I spilled water on them, dropped them numerous times, dragged them by the wire after a bicycle, stepped on them - they are literally indestructible. The sound quality did not degrade with years, no rattling effect many other headphones acquire after some usage (especially very loud).
I literally cannot believe they are as cheap as they are. My friend has a set of Bang and Olafsen buds he paid 100.00 for. When I let him listen to a pair of 15.00 Koss, he was in shock!
If you are looking for a pair if great sounding super reliable phones, you have found them!
Customer Review: Great Cheap Headphones- Love 'em Summary: 5 Stars
These are great headphones. The low-end thumps, the high-end is clear, they're comfy, and easy to drag around. They're open ears, but aren't too loud for your neighbors (I used them in a shared office with no problems- and I like my metal!). I've owned comparably priced Sony wrap-arounds before, and I said I'd never buy anything else. I got these as a replacement not out of dissatisfaction with the Sonys (I beat them up pretty good), but because of Koss's lifetime warranty. I've taken advantage of their warranty with another over-ear (TD-80?) Koss set I have, and have been really happy with the speed and low-cost of their services. Can't argue with no-questions-asked replacements even for user-error problems.
As I mentioned- the sound is great. I can seriously feel the bass in my chest with these little things. The overall tone of the audio quality is a little 'crunchy' for lack of a more technical term, but I love these things. I gave these 4 stars for sound quality, but only because they're small, cheap, open-ear 'phones. I reserve my 5s for the big dogs. Compared to Sony and Skull-candy comparable models, I think I like these the best. The design puts no pressure on my ears.
If you are looking for headphones under $30, buy these and you will be happy.
