This product is NOT what I expected. Unlike my old VHS cleaner/rewinder this one does not use a cleaning solution and does not clean the VHS tapes as well. My old Cleaner/Rewinder had a hole to put several drops of cleaning solution much like the head cleaners for VHS machines, it had what was referred to as cleaning heads which where felt and replaceable. This Machine has a plastic post that rests against the tape as it rewinds but does NOT clean very well. I made 3 attempts to clean 1 VHS tape with little accomplishment. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone as a tape CLEANER, as a REWINDER it works fine.Customer Review: Working very well

I had the same brand video rewinder for years and it worked fine until
I left it on all night once, but I was so impressed when that happened that it still
worked after that except that it wouldn't pop up anymore when done. But the one
I bought recently has twice made the tape come loose after rewinding. And
a couple of times I couldn't get it to start unless I pushed down hard on the
lid. Other than those 2 things it's working ok.
June 17, 2008 update---My rewinder is working very well now that it has
"settled in" so I am very happy with it now.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this product. There aren't many rewinders for VHS on the market anymore, and most of what is out there is junk. We purchased 6 different rewinders locally and returned them all as they would only work one or two times then quit. This one cleans the tapes, goes forward, goes backwards and keeps doing it! I bought this on the basis of the top review here, and am sorry I did. The unit pulls so hard it has torn several tapes right off the spools, and seldom opens by itself once the tape is rewound -- the motor keeps hauling away at a fully rewound tape. It often balks at loading cassettes and balks at releasing them; numerous time I've had to pry my tapes out of it with a screwdriver. Not once has the cleaning button stayed down, so this feature is as good as absent. I finally put the infernal thing in the garbage, where it belongs.Customer Review: A Good Way to Keep our Video Player in Good Condition

I recently bought a video rewinder which works very well. It takes the load off my video player, and it even cleans the videos as they are being rewound. It helps the player to last much longer. At present, this is the third video player I have had to buy in the past 4 years. I also have a video cleaner to keep my heads cleaned and working properly. I am very pleased with my "rewinder-cleaner," and I certainly recommend it to anyone who would like to keep their machines a little longer.
