Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of KINGSTON DT100 4GB FLASH DRIVE 4GB DATA TRAVELER UCustomer Review: Great Bargain for Many Needs Summary: 4 Stars
Pros:
* Loving the capless design for travel
* BIG ol' value!
* Available backed by Amazon, whose return policy makes me willing to try out most anything
Cons:
* Slower `n beans...though not molasses in January.
* Works with Vista, but not Vista ReadyBoost compatible
* Aesthetically, feels light, label is a loose plastic stick-on, slider button is stiff yet so far reliable
* Doesn't resemble Scarlett Johansson even on the coldest nights.
Fits the bill nicely for my wife--who allowed me to buy it SOLELY because of the lack of S.J. resemblance--who backs up her memoirs onto it. Sold at a price that can't be beat for the capacity and trustworthy brand name that comes with it. I recommend it strongly unless you need to move huge amounts of files on and off regularly.
Customer Review: Not as easy to use - for ME. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this model flash drive and another one with the removable cap. This one is difficult to push into my USB connector, because it doesn't lock into place. It slides. Oh, it works just fine - I tried it on three different machines - but it's just awkward to use. I may buy another one of the Kingston DT1 model with the cap.
I use two flash drives. One I fill up with all my writing, then take it to the bank and drop it in the safe deposit box. I bring home the one that was there and fill it up with the current stuff. That way I've got a cheapo off-site storage place for all my books. I strongly recommend you do the same - regardless of push-out connector or pop-top.
Customer Review: Not bad but problematicly fragile Summary: 2 Stars
Biggest issues:
1>
There is nothing I know of small enough to fasten to the back of it to make it "lanyard" ready. Maybe it isn't supposed to be, but it looks like there was an intention of having the ability to do such a thing.
2>
It fell off my desk (first time) and separated into 3 pieces. It still works, but is held together with scotch tape. I would like to have something a bit more sturdy. I've had a mug survive the same fall intact.
--of course if was attached to a lanyard, it wouldn't have been sitting on my desk....
It isn't unreliable, but I wouldn't buy it again because of he fragility.
Customer Review: Works well but.... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this product for research data and pictures. It works well but its plastic outer covers seems cheaply made. It's not as solid as my previous flash drives and doesn't seem like it will hold up very long. I also am afraid that the button that allows you to slide the USB connection in and out is fragile and will break soon. While it's nice that this connection is retractable, it would also be awful if the latch broke and I was no longer able to get to my data. I have had a good experience with other Kingston products so I'm hoping this product will work out well for me too.
Customer Review: be prepared to break a nail Summary: 2 Stars
overall operation of the memory aspect is fine. Just some ergonomic and convenience issues that made me regret purchase. Moving the knob to get the usb connector out is tougher than it should be. May just be a one off, but shattered a thumbnail in the first few attempts. Also, I prefer to attach these sticks to a key ring fob so they are easier to find and not lose. I found no easy way to do that with the very small bar and space at the end of the stick that seems to be for this purpose. Again, so problem with the memory, just found it not meeting my needs
