Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of KINGSTON DT100 4GB FLASH DRIVE 4GB DATA TRAVELER UCustomer Review: I read a lot of reviews Summary: 5 Stars
I read a lot of reviews on this Kingston before I ordered it.
So I sort of knew what to look out for.
But before addressing concerns that other users expressed, let me just say this much up front:
For me, this little Data Traveler works fine.
Ok, I said it.
Now, the activity light:
Yes, it's there and it works.
You'll never know it's there until you use the device.
Examining mine, I thought mine had no light.
Until I ran it.
The Kingston Logo on the top side lights up.
Looking at the device unplugged, you would never think that that Logo could serve as a light.
But it does.
If you buy one of these Data Travelers, first look very closely at the Logo and tell me if you would ever suspect that it's going to be able to light up.
Next, some folks say that the slide-in/slide-out switch on the side is tough to use.
Well, it's not wimpy.
Yes you need to be deliberate when you extend and retract the doo-jiggy that plugs into the USB port or extension cable that you would be using.
But it's not as bad as you might fear.
And you might consider that to be a safety feature to prevent accidental ins and outs.
I read from some people that the connector would retract as they tried to insert the device into the USB port.
And yes, that happened to me too.
Once.
When I was trying to insert the device while pressing on the slide button.
So after that happened, I just extend the connector until it clicks out in place.
And then insert the Kingston into the USB port with pressure on the butt end of the Data Traveler.
Without pressing on the slide button.
Pressure on the button is what releases the lock and allows it to slide in and out.
User observations about the place to attach a key ring or lanyard:
They might be right, I don't know.
Because that's a non-issue for me, the way I use stuff like this.
