Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 64GB DataTraveler DT150Customer Review: Not counterfeit, but still not working Summary: 1 Stars
After a month of buying a sealed new product, this usb drive started gradually giving me problems, first I didnt had access to a couple of files in the drive, and later I could not format.. then I could not move files to it, but still could copy form it.. and later on it was not recognized by the OS.
I called Kingston and my drive HAD a serial number on the USB connector, so it WAS an original product, however it was a deffective one... Apparently Kingston are aware of these problems so they already discontinued the product...
Anyway, I had to send the non working drive and they sent me back a DataTraveler 200, also with 64 GB, and this new product is very fast writing and reading. But that is not the point, I am reviewing here the DT150/64GB which is a piece of junk no matter how god the service from Kingston was.
Customer Review: Best gadget ever. Summary: 5 Stars
Everytime a larger capacity thumb drive cames out, I typically put it off until I really need it. Having one of 8GBs, I never imagined needing much more for a while. Now that I have 64GBS on a thumb drive, I can't imagine ever being without it.
Working as a tech I typically need a plethora of tools and documentation. Carying a CD/DVD case around can get pretty annoying. I was able to load up 40GBs of tools, iso files and documents on to this great little thumb drive. With over 20GBs to spare, right in my pocket.
It loads fast, is quickly recognised on xp and vista, and file transfers are pretty quick for a thumb drive. The only thing that can be a bit of a let down is that the size is a bit fat. On some systems, you may have to remove another usb device to get it to fit properly. Other than that, it's great.
Customer Review: slower than a snail Summary: 1 Stars
This is the slowest USB drive that I have ever owned. It takes over 4 hours to transfer about 2GB of files, so I though I had a defective unit. Just called Kingston's tech support line, and it turned out the marketing dept jumped the gun and released a version with an old internal controller. The tech support person also owned one of this and had similar experience as I described to him. The return dept demands credit card info if I want them to send the replacement first. I refused. After all, it's their faults, and they should send a replacement right away. Waiting for the RMA label. Last time to buy Kingston, unfortunately, not only due to one particular defective product, but I'm really disappointed at how they handle their most loyal customers -- I owned many Kingston flash drives since their first was released.
Customer Review: It was a knock off -- Not a legitimate Kingston Product!!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
Despite various emails through Amazon's customer service links, I have never heard from anyone at Amazon about this horrible purchasing experience. The product crashed after the initial attempt to use it, and through calls to Kingston's help center, it was finally determined that this was not a legitimate Kingston product. It was missing a key set of numbers in a certain area. Amazon nor the seller (Master of Electronics) ever contacted me, although Amazon did issue a full credit to my account. However, it was extremely disappointing that no effort was made to follow-up on this fraudulent product. I am very skeptical about purchasing anything from Amazon going forward because of this unfortunate experience. Your reputation has been seriously damaged in my opinion.
Customer Review: Needed formatting out of the box. Slow... Summary: 4 Stars
Out of the box, I got an error trying to access the flash drive. I did a full (not quick) format using NTFS and that solved the problem. I'm not sure if there were any built-in applications since I never got a chance to see.
This memory is SLOW. It took me 5 hours to copy 24GB over a USB 2.0 connection. It seemed like forever.
On the plus side; this is a huge amount of memory in a slightly larger than normal shape. Keep in mind that this is 100 times as much memory as you would have gotten a few years ago for the same price. I'm a programmer and have two virtual PC's, documentation, DVD training and numerous ISO DVD images stored with room to spare. This is cheap insurance to backup a fairly large amount of data.
