Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston DataTraveler 100 - 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DT100/8GBCustomer Review: Great price, works great Summary: 5 Stars
Its amazing that you can get 8gig on a thumb drive for this price! Just imagine in a few years. I've used this device on several computers now and it works fine. I bought one to store important files on and place in a small safe deposit box. A DVD won't fix in my safe deposit box, and this stores almost twice as much as a DVD anyway.
This drive does NOT have the annoying auto install software like some other manufacturers are infecting their products with lately.
And why are people tagging this "4gb"? Its an 8gb drive!
Customer Review: No Lanyard Summary: 4 Stars
I am satisfied with my Kingston 8GB Data Traveller. There have been no problems with compatibility or data transfer/loss. The retractable connection means that I will not lose the cover as has happened with other flash drives. The size should be adequate for any application that I have for it. The only negative is that it did not come with any lanyard, so I had to either put it in my pocket or use a lanyard from an old drive. I contacted the company via email, and they said they would send me a lanyard, but I have yet to receive it.
Customer Review: Wonderful and convenient product! Summary: 5 Stars
Its hard to believe that 8GB of data can fit into this tiny flash drive that's the size of a stick of gum. And the part that sticks into the computer is retractable so you don't have to have a case for it. I bought it to transfer pictures from my laptop to my desktop computers, and it works like a charm. Its a lot easier than emailing photos to myself, especially since I have a rural area, super-slow dial-up connection. And you can take data anywhere. I highly recommend this product, and you can't beat Amazon's price!
Customer Review: Another great Kingston product Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second flash drive by Kingston. My first one, a 1GB unit has been working flawlessly for some 4 years now. This one seems also perfectly realiable. Unlike the smaller one, this 8 GB flash drive has no removable cap. Its USB plug-in head is retractable, so there's nothing to lose, nothing to worry about. It was recognized in Vista immmediately, driver installed automatically, ready to use in seconds. Loaded about 2 GB's of portable software, no problems whatsoever. And the loading was fast.
Customer Review: Good for price Summary: 3 Stars
The retractable head is quite nice (don't underestimate the utility of not having a cap to keep around), the price is great, but the speed isn't good at all. This drive does well for storing data, but don't expect to run programs or use ReadyBoost with it.
Just as a point of clarification, ReadyBoost will work with flash drives or cards greater than 4 GB on a 64 bit system. The 4 GB rule for 32 bit systems applies to ReadyBoost just as much as it applies to RAM sticks.
