Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-HS219/1

Customer Review: Just what I needed
Summary: 5 Stars

My previous cardreader (6 years old) started giving connection errors so I shopped around looking for (a) price, (b) size, (c) convenience. Another tipping factor was that I've always had positive experience with Kingston products.

Have had it and used it extensively for several weeks and have no qualms about it. It has a short cable so it's easier to connect than those without cable; it is retractable which protects the connections and the cable and makes it easy to throw into my briefcase. One caveat: I've only use the SD connection but one would presume the other connections are operable. Also, upon writing this review, I see that there was suppose to be a 3' extension cable. Hmmmm...don't remember getting that. Have to check my desk--haven't needed it but still would be good to have.

Customer Review: Electronics function well, build not so much.
Summary: 4 Stars

I just began using this, and the electronics seem to work well as both a reader and writer. I loaded 8 GB on to a card and tested it. It worked flawlessly. I knocked off a point because the build is similar to a cheap child's toy. If you find the hidden instructions, which consist of a simple, tiny diagram, you'll get the idea that the inner mechanism slides back and forth to allow access to the card ports. Mine sticks mercilessly. I figured out that I have to press down on the logo to "release" it, but it still sticks, so I have to help it by pushing on the inner tray while depressing the logo. That works, but I'm not eager to do it very often. It gave me sore thumb syndrome. With practice, it might become less frustrating. I'm keeping it because it works. I've used an SD, a mini SD, and an SDHC. All worked.

Customer Review: Better than the product was the customer service!
Summary: 5 Stars

You usually can't go wrong purchasing electronics through Amazon. But, shortly after placing my order,
while I was still out of the country, I received notice that it could not be delivered to my rural address without someone home to sign for it. I immediately emailed explaining my dilemma, and Amazon reshipped the article...no questions asked. Upon arriving home, several weeks later I discovered the pkg. was still waiting in my post office box. And the duplicate arrived shortly there after. I was amazed that Amazon would take such good care of customers, immediately returned the duplicate and have been singing the praises of a very satisfied customer ever since. A very good lesson about going the extra mile in business, especially with the current financial situation.

Customer Review: What the Doctor Ordered!
Summary: 5 Stars

The technology on my desktop, even though it is less that two years old, is behind the curve. (Who am I kidding - it was behind the curve before it came off the assembly line after I ordered it.) I had the multiple card reader installed as part of the package and it worked fine - until the HD cards started showing up - then - No Joy! Looking around for another Kingston product was my first choice, something that wasn't expensive, that would read the new HD cards as well as be backward compatible with the older card formats. This one is it. Inexpensive, easy to use, will read and do everything the product details say it will. Hence, all the stars. Good value. Does what it promises. Gets me updated just a bit more. And now I can enjoy all the movies and pictures I took of my beautiful grandchildren.

Customer Review: Makes life easier on Mac and PC alike
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my iMac. I wanted a flexible multi-card reader and this fit the bill exactly. Works fast and easy on Mac and PC. I only use the SD and micro SD slots. So far, I haven't had any problems. Standard SD, SDHC, and several brands micro SD from various cell phones. It has made my life so much easier. I use it on all my computers, even the ones with with built in SD readers because it's so versatile. The slots recess when not in use. Not sure why this was designed, since it still leaves a huge opening in the front for dust to invade. It's more cosmetic than anything. It also comes with a USB extension cord, which I keep permanently attached to one of the back USB ports on my iMac. I have not experienced any issues inserting or removing cards. Definitely money well spent.
