Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-HS219/1Customer Review: I Needed This Reader Summary: 4 Stars
I was leaving my camera on and draining its battery when downloading pictures, so I really needed a card reader. This reader is fast and works well with no problems for CF and SD cards, which is what I use. The product description neglects to mention that it has a red LED to show USB access.

Customer Review: Great Reader - WORKS with iPad Camera Connection Kit! Summary: 5 Stars
I just got this Kingston Multi-card Reader today so it's probably too early to call it the best reader in the world but its great so far. It has the ability to slide in and out of its protective housing so you can store cards while they are still in the reader and toss it into a camera bag - the cards slide into the protective housing WITH the reader itself. The biggest thrill for me is the fact that it WORKS PERFECTLY with the iPad Camera Connection Kit (which is a MUST for photographers with an iPad). It gives me the ability to pup my CF card in and pull the photos through the camera connection kit's USB attachment (I've only tested it with a Lexar 16GB Platinum II CF Card - but I'm sure it works on most other cards). It's a great buy - I'll update this at a later date to report whether it's still functioning like I think it will/should.
Customer Review: Product is OK but a Problem with Shipping Summary: 3 Stars
You can't tell from my Texas mailing address, but I live in Mexico and use a mail forwarding service. Normally all my orders from Amazon contain an invoice with the price of the article(s), but in this case there was no invoice. Mexican Customs imposes a duty on commercial purchases except for books based on the value listed in the invoice. If there is no invoice they estimate the value, and they estimate HIGH. In this case they valued this $13 item at $50 and the duty was more than the purchase price.
Including an invoice with a price list should be routine with all purchases from Amazon. Usually it is, but in this case the absence of an invoice, whether by intent or careless packing caused me an extra expense that negated the otherwise good price of the item. With a larger, more expensive order it would have been much worse.
Customer Review: Not good for Micro SD cards Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this reader a month back. The first card I tried was a Micro SD card from my cellphone. I pushed it in, the light turned red, and I was connected in an instant. So far so good. When I was done copying the files I wanted, I disconnected the drive, and tried to remove the card - only to realize that I couldn't. The card was stuck in the reader. Now, I am not sure if something broke inside, or if the unit I got was defective, but the card went all the way in (flush with the surface) leaving me no option to remove it. Finally, I had to break the plastic divider right next to the card slot and use a knife to extract the card. So, PLEASE use caution when using smaller cards with this reader. I have not tried with bigger cards yet, but after what happened with the first card, I'm not too comfortable with the idea of trying again.
Customer Review: Inexpensive and works great so far Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this to read files from CF and SDHC cards. I have been using the reader on my HP printer but the time to download digital camera files was frustrating. When I upgraded to a flash video camera it became maddening. I purchased it even after reading some negative reviews about compatability with large capacity memory cards. I plugged it into a USB port and inserted a Trancend 16GB SDHC card and it was able to transfer the files in minutes versus many hours from the printer. So far, no issues. Of course this is not a long term test but it worked as advertized right out of the package. I expect to buy another device to carry with my DSLR, video camera and laptop. The item was delivered in one day using Amamzon Prime.
I purchased another device to carry with my laptop. Works great with no issues on either unit.
