Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston DataTraveler I - 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DTI/8GBCustomer Review: Good till.... Summary: 4 Stars
This item was great. I bought it in January & it worked all the way for 3 months, then out of the blue after not using it for 2 days everything was gone. But a cousin, whose a computer tech, doesn't think it was the manufacturers problem. He thinks something got on my flash drive & erased everything. But he's not sure, it could have been a number of reasons why all my data disappeared. I'm gonna try & see what happens now reformatting it. All I can say with it, is try it, but be careful of what you put on it (though I only put documents & pictures from *online* on it).
Customer Review: Cheap, reliable, and HUGE! Summary: 5 Stars
I picked up one of these for work and it is impressive to say the least. Having 8 GB of storage in a flash drive the width of my little finger is truly amazing. I have been using this for a few months now, moving large image and media files from one computer to another and it has performed flawlessly throughout that time. This is the highest capacity flash drive I have ever used and it is also one of the smallest in size. I am especially pleased with the speed and reliability of this product. All in all a great deal on a quality product - Highly Recommended!!!
Customer Review: Even better than expected! Summary: 5 Stars
I've purchased many Kingston flash drives, and I've only ever had one DOA (though they issued an RMA promptly - good service). It was a 2GB, and I worried about the quality of their higher-capacity drives after that. However, the price on this 8GB was good, so I took the plunge and bought two. I have not been disappointed with either one! In fact, the write speed is about twice what I usually see on my 1GB versions of this drive! Highly recommended, especially to those who don't want to bother with U3 or need ReadyBoost. This drive is a solid performer.
Customer Review: Unusable for DevonThink Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this drive to move two large files between my iMac and my Macbook. The files are in Scrivener and DevonThink. Both of them are packages which contain many smaller files. This drive is so slow that it's unusable for this purpose. It is easy to re-format for a mac, and I think it might work better for another type of file. But for my purposes, it's such a waste of money that I'm going to buy another drive to replace it. If you want a thumb drive to move Scrivener or DevonThink files from one Mac to another, don't buy this one. It won't work.
Customer Review: Works Fine Summary: 5 Stars
This unit performs well, loading accurately and quickly without a lot of undesired "bonuses" like "game" software.
The cap keeps dust out of the docking orifice and can be snapped onto the opposite end, for safe-keeping, while the device is loaded. I'm glad Kingston has retained this design feature while playing with color schemes.
If you do not want to move the cap to the back end, you can use the loop to connect to a key chain or a clip. Smart design assures the longevity of the unit in your possession.
