Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston DataTraveler I - 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DTI/8GBCustomer Review: An awesome 8 gig flash drive! Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this flash drive! When it arrived, I plugged it into both my desktop and laptop computers. I was able to transfer files effortlessly from one computer to another, from Vista to XP with no problems at all. It was so easy, anybody can do it. When I plugged it into both computers, it immediately came up as a recognized drive on both computers. I just dragged and dropped files to it, and that was it! So far it has been rock-solid reliable, although I've only had it for 3 weeks. There is no intrusive software to learn or load, no crap to deal with. Just plug it in, and it works! The price is great, the size is great, I just love this thing! If I get another one, I will think about getting the 16 gig, 32 gig, or even the 64 gig models.
Customer Review: Data Traveler, 8GB Summary: 4 Stars
This would rate a 5 star if the case were more substantial. Otherwise, it is an excellent product and works as advertised. Price was a deciding factor in this purchase as 8GB is now just a little above the standard size of flash drives being sold at brick and mortar stores. Had a 4GB that went "belly up" and I threw it away before realizing Kingston products have a lifetime warranty. To be fair, I did send it through the wash but it operated for many months after that. I treated it like a pocket knife by having it in my pocket unprotected 5 days a week. Uncertain as to why it failed. If using warranties is your thing keep your receipt for the inevitable. If this is your "backup" device, make a backup of it also as nothing is certain in memory land.
Customer Review: Dead after six months Summary: 1 Stars
I've used Kingston drives before - with terrific luck. I needed something a bit larger than what I have to carry podcasts, photos and documents between various computers. When this went on sale during an Amazon deal, I snapped it up.
The drive was a little slow at times, but always worked - until I really needed it a week ago. Then, the drive went bad. I tried it in three computers, just to be sure - two Macs and one PC. The drive was invalid and all the documents were lost.
It was just six months after the purchase date. I don't expect electronics to last more than a few years, but just a few months? That is bogus.
As I look to purchase another flash drive, I'll seriously consider other brands.
Customer Review: Works fine Summary: 4 Stars
I upgraded from a 4G to a 8G so I'd have room to store my mp3 files. I've not had a problem with it so far but I give it four stars and not five because I've only used it twice. Once was to backup 2Gb worth of mp3 songs I made and the other was to save a document I needed printed at a local printing shop. I really like Kingston flash drives. I like that they come in different colors for each memory size. Not a big deal but good for a glance and grab situation. The drive itself has pretty fast uploads and downloads. I'd definitely buy again though maybe next time I'll go for even higher memory. Overall I think they are great products for a lot cheaper than some of the drives I saw being sold at local retail stores.
Customer Review: A very Good product Summary: 5 Stars
I have used Kingston drives for quite some time now and they all take a beating and keep on going. I write screenplays and need to transport files between home and the studio and let me tell you these drives are workhorses that function very well on windows and mac. If you really need an inexpensive way to save and backup any file type this is the way to go. I have had no problems at all with the 4gb version and the 8gb version. These drives are not very fast so I dont recommend running applications off of them even though you probobly can. These drives are always in the pockets of my jeans along with keys coins and other junk and still after all the surface scratches and dirt they work like a charm.
