Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston DataTraveler 100 - 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DT100/2GB

Customer Review: Excellent seller

Customer Review: Mediocre
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought two of these at my local department store because they were really cheap but, this is definitely the lowest quality flash drive I've owned (even when compared to my generics). I have one major gripe: It does not play well with USB1. If I format either of my two "DataTraveler" 2G flash drives on a USB1 port, I encounter lots of bad sectors and the error "Invalid media or Track 0 bad - disk unusable". As soon as I reformat the same device in a USB2 port, it formats fine. Also, if I copy a large volume of information to the device at one time, the copy will occasionally fail. However, I have never had any problems copying files off of the drive.

One additional (minor) complaint is that the recessed pin on the back end of the device is okay if you intend to keep it on a string but you can't easily put it on a key chain because the body of the device is in the way. Mine did not come with any type of necklace or spiral ring to carry it on. That said, my two flash drives spend most of their time sitting on a shelf--so I can't really speak to their durability. I gave this product three stars because you can't beat the amount of storage space for the price. However, if you intend to use it on an older computer, which only has a USB1 bus, I'd recommend looking for a different flash drive. On the other hand, if you're looking for a really cheap flash drive, which you intend to use solely on USB2 you will probably find the performance acceptable.

Customer Review: They're Kingston
Summary: 4 Stars

Can't really go wrong with Kingston -- I've been using their products for a long time and have never had any issue.

Customer Review: Nice cheap flash drive.
Summary: 5 Stars

This flash drive works just as well as any that are more expensive. I've been perfectly happy with its performance.

Customer Review: Keep Away From Your Kenwood
Summary: 1 Stars

My Kenwood car stereo hates these flashdrives, they hangup all the time and need to be reinserted several times.
