Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston Apple 4GB Kit (2x2GB Modules) 667MHz DDR2 SoDimm iMac and Macbook Memory (KTA-MB667K2/4GR)Customer Review: Just as described at a Very Good Price Summary: 5 Stars
The memory was simple to install, registered fine, and seems to help somewhat. The cost was much more reasonable then purchasing thru Apple (charged me $140 for 1 gig addition). I previously had 2gigs in the iMac, and to tell the truth, there doesn't seem to be to much of a speed increase. I'm sure there's some, but getting on the net, or using Lightroom and Photoshop, it's not that noticeable. I'm sure the extra memory helps in running these programs, but there's not that much of an appreciable speed gain.
Customer Review: Good value for the money Summary: 5 Stars
Bought the memory, plugged it in, and now my imac is noticeably faster. Back up your system before, though. Other people have reported some problems with losing data. Also, I noticed that even after pressing in the clips that hold the memory, the modules weren't seated fully. I used a screwdriver to press on both ends of the memory modules to fully seat them. If the memory doesn't make full contact, I can imagine that the system would flake. Just don't press too hard. Otherwise, it's a pretty simple upgrade.
Customer Review: Good value, easy install... No problems Summary: 5 Stars
Good value for 4GB of RAM from a trusted name in memory. Popped both the 2GB sticks into my 24-inch aluminum iMac Core 2 Duo and away I went. Kingston labeling it an "Apple 4GB Kit" made me feel a little more comfortable purchasing it for the iMac even though I've had Macs for years & years and feel like I know my way around them just fine. No problems so far after a month of running the iMac non-stop. I guess RAM is kind of taken for granted... it's not really thought about until something goes wrong.
Customer Review: More than worth it Summary: 5 Stars
I have a 2 year old macbook, it's 4th generation (late 2007).
I bought this to make the upgrade from 1GB ram to 4GB ram, and it's worth every penny.
The computer is SO much faster, it loads faster, it can run many demanding programs at once. It makes VMware fusion's virtual machines run as good as the mac, I am truly amazed. This upgrade made me a believer... "More RAM is always better"
If you are in doubt, BUY IT! but make sure this is the right one for your mac!!
Customer Review: Apple using the 2 Mem Slots Summary: 5 Stars
Apple sell their computers using the only two available slots because using 2x1GB will give you better performance than just using 1x2GB. Thats why!
In my case, my macbook came with 512mbx2 and I did the upgrade myself to 2x1GB a few months ago. The good thing is that in case this memory fails I'll always have the original ones till the warranty for the new ones will give me a replacement.
mine are PNY (not specifically desingned for Apple) but they work perfect!
