I find the SX10 IS to be almost like an SLR. I have all the auto functions, plus can manually adjust. I took a picture of the full moon on 6-7-09, and decided to allow the camera to do all the adjusting. I DID NOT use a tripod, but held the camera in my hand and got an incredible shot of all the craters. I know I could do better with a tripod, but this was awesome.(tried to upload the image, but Amazon was having trouble) The 20X optical lens is great and all the fancy Powershot capabilities are wonderful. Purchased for a digital camera and another one for a HD camcorder. Both work fine. I had a fear that the HD video camera would want to write to the card faster than the card could save but this was not the case.
