Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of USB 2.0 Hi-speed 15-IN-1 (Retail Package)Customer Review: Great gadget! Works as advertised. Summary: 5 Stars
This nice little item is just what you need for quickly transfering data between your digital Cameras, Cell Phones or Palm / Windows Mobile devices.
I use it to quickly download the photos and videos from my digital Cameras' Memory Stick Duo. Its also very usefull for uploding Mp3s, Apps, games and pictures into my Cell Phone and Palm computer.
With this device you can forget about installing awkward and complicated software for each device on your computer. No more slow or limited transfers (its very fast). Just pop out the memory from any device using SD, MicroSD, Mem Stick Duo/Pro (15 in all), stick it into the card reader, and download/upload to your hearts content.
The Kingston USB card reader requires no software, and works right out of the box. Save yourself the hassle of installing multiple transfer software for all your digital devices, and get this item!
Customer Review: Functional, but not pleasant. Summary: 3 Stars
It's small, it installs each card as a different drive, includes a utility that labels which drive letter takes which card, and lets you know when a card has been recognized. It has a activity light which isn't very informative, but at least lets you know when the card is being accessed. I especially liked that it doesn't load a bunch of digital media file management bloatware. However, it usually requires some removing and re-inserting and wiggling to get it to recognize SD and MMC cards. Also, as you might expect, it's plastic and feels light and cheap. I have no idea how long it will last.
EDIT 3-2006: Had to uninstall the software that labeled the slots by the media type, because it was buggy and kept crashing explorer.
Customer Review: Card Reader Summary: 5 Stars
Works great and reads all of the various memory cards we have in all of our stuff. I wanted a card reader that didn't require its own power - I've already got enough adapters under the desk from the cable modem, routers, external HDs, monitors, printers, cordless phones, etc. Also, because I don't have to mess with an extra power supply, I can use it with my laptop when traveling and don't need to bother with power. Plugged into my Mac and recognized just fine, no software or driver installs - tried it on the PC just to see and didn't have to install anything there either. Thanks!
Customer Review: Works Great Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one of these to use at work for transferring files between a computer and a data recorder that uses CompactFlash cards. I've also begun using it for other tasks such as transferring files between computers on different LANs (process/IT). It has worked so well, I've since bought one for my daughter to upload pictures from her camera. I can only speak for CompactFlash cards and SD cards as that's all I've used, but it has worked well on various computers, though I think all are XP platforms. Five stars because it does exactly what it claims to do without any hassle.
Customer Review: Portable and functional card reader Summary: 5 Stars
(I mostly use CFs, SDs, and Microdrives.) This reader was completely PnP right out of the case - no installation of drivers or software. Contrary to other reviews, I find the LED light useful in reminding me NOT to mess with the card while the reader is accessing them. (I haven't loss any data that way, but I wouldn't want to take a chance - waiting a couple of seconds more before removing a card from the reader is surely better that hours recovering data.)
Note: this reader is able to accommodate the Microdrives which are slightly thicker than the CF I
