Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston USB 2.0 microSD Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-MRB (Black)

Customer Review: Great for phone MicroSD cards
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this item because I needed a way to transfer files from the microSD card of my LG Lotus phone to my computer. It does the trick in a simple device. I opened the package and instantly I was uploading photos and videos to my computer, and transferring songs from my computer that I could play on my phone. There's no software or any of that nonsense, it's just a simple interface device that allows you to transfer files. My only knock was on the durability category, not because the device is necessarily fragile, but because with something like this I include "losability" with durability. It's so small I could see it being easy to lose if I'm not careful.

Customer Review: Great
Summary: 5 Stars

Great little device. Does everything it's intended to do. Plugged it into my Windows XP computer and it was immediately recognized. I had no issue removing the micro card, as some other reviewers seemed to have. Only issue for me was that it took me a minute or two to figure out that the unit pulls out from its shell, exposing the actual device that plugs into USB. This was not immediately apparent to me, and the diagram on back of package was not very clear. As usual these days, there were no words, only pictures. Other than this, I found this device to be everything I expected it to be.

Customer Review: Smaller than display but excellent performance
Summary: 5 Stars

As a college student I been using this USB adapter to read off my kingston microSD card for a while and hasn't failed me this whole semester. I usually keep the USB in my pocket along with my keys and has been dropped a couple times and yet it still works flawlessly. I had read a review a while back with someone complaining about it failing to function. I haven't had that problem and it doesn't seem like I ever will. The only con this adapter has is that it is small enough to lose. Its about the size of a quarter. Other than that, if you can get this item for a good deal why not get it?

Customer Review: Runs a bit hot, but a solid flash card reader.
Summary: 4 Stars

After going through several flash card readers that died after a single use, I'm glad to see that this one is fairly reliable thus far. The MicroSD flashcards aren't nearly as hard to get out as some might suggest, although you'll naturally not want to be too rough with it.

My only issue with it is that it gets very hot very fast. This isn't particularly surprising, but it can be a bit disconcerting at times. I can forsee it having some future issues due to the heat. However, all flashcard readers seem to share this problem, so it's hard to get around.

Customer Review: Nice little accessory to have
Summary: 4 Stars

This little USB card reader works great. I have found similar USB card readers at other sites for a little bit cheaper but it takes over 2 weeks to get stuff from the other sites. I used Super Saver Shipping and got this in the mail 2 days after ordering! It would be nice it the MicroSD slot was spring loaded as it can be difficult to get the card out sometimes but other than that I don't have have complaints. It's pretty nice because any computer that was made in the past 10 years or more has at last 1 USB slot but very few have MicroSD card readers.
