Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston 4 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card SD6/4GB

Customer Review: Slow and not so reliable card after a couple of years of use
Summary: 3 Stars

I have used this card for a few years in my pentax k100D dSLR. It has served me OK most of the time, except it gave a corrupt file once in a while, not a big deal, but something to remember.
I received a 4GB Sandisk Ultra (Class 4) today and did a quick comparison against the class 6 Kingston. What a surprise! Within 15 seconds in continuous drive, I snapped 11 photos with the Kingston, with another 13 seconds for saving onto the card; while I took 19 photos with the Sandisk Ultra, which just need another 4 seconds to save onto the card. The class 6 Kingston is actually much slower than the class 4 Sandisk.
Out of curiosity, I also tested a class 2 Sandisk SD card. with that card, I took 18 photos within 15 seconds, 5 more seconds to clear the memory. I guess this pretty much proved that quality of the Sandisk card.

Customer Review: Works Great, No Problems
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for a Nikon L20 10-megapixel point-and-shoot camera.

It works fine and I've had no issues.

I'm not sure what the high speed gets me since I am not using all that sophisticated of a camera, but it seems responsive enough.

The only downside I have discovered is that the SD card reader in my two-year-old Dell PC is not SDHC-compatible. Meaning it will not recognize a card of this capacity. It's kindof a bummer, but I have a newer laptop that reads this 4GB card fine. This is not the card's fault, but you may want to verify what your computer will handle before you move up to SDHC.

All in all, I am satisfied with Amazon service and pricing, as usual. I recommend the Kingston 4GB Class 6 card without hesitation.

Customer Review: Broke down twice already
Summary: 1 Stars

Probably I got the bad one, but this thing broke down twice already, with all my vacation pictures in it, twice gone. Money is not the issue here. But there is no way I can get back those vacation pictures again. Before I used the card I already formatted it with my digital camera so compatibility should not be any issue at all. THe first time it broke down, both my computers cannot recognize it so I ended up has to reformat the card again. The second time it cant be recognized at all leaving the card useless and all the pictures in it unreachable. Save yourself and buy better card. You dont wanna end up losing your pictures just for the sake of this cheapo card. I am warning you, dont be like me, lesson learned the hard way..

Customer Review: Just what you'd expect
Summary: 5 Stars

It's a 4GB SD card - there's not much more you can say. It was the best deal I could find for a class 6 card at around $24. My Canon SD 870 IS records images to it rather quickly, usually faster than I can take them. The spacious 4GB capacity lets me shoot and shoot without worrying about changing memory cards. Just make sure that the devices you want to use this with support the SDHC standard. I had to buy a new card reader since the SD slot on my notebook doesn't support SDHC. I found a Sandisk MobileMate SD Plus Memory Card Reader and it has been very handy.

Customer Review: Perfectly Capable Device
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this to use with my daughter's new laptop running 64-bit Vista Ultimate. Supposedly Microsoft's got some technique that will improve the computer's performance when booting the operating system and resuming from sleep and hibernation conditions, if you give it up to 4GB of fast flash memory. Well I did that and personally I detect no change in the performance on a brand new Dell XPS 1530 laptop. This is not a complaint about the Kingston SD memory. It works just fine in every application, MP3 player and camera. I just don't buy the Microsoft claim that their uber-boot technology is more than marketing noise. The device is a fine product.
