Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Mini Microphone for iPhone 3G/iPod/touch/classicCustomer Review: What's the point? Summary: 1 Stars
I got this for my iPod, which as it turns out, wasn't compatible since my iPod is too old a model, despite that I read the description before I bought and it sure seemed compatible. Anyway, I tested the microphone on my husband's iPhone and I couldn't detect any difference in quality between with this mike and without (using the mike already in the iPhone). Ditto using it on my laptop. All I can say about this mike is that at least I didn't lose much money. If other models of iPods have recording software for voices, would those models, too, not need these external mikes?
Customer Review: Far exceeded expectations relative to price ($2) Summary: 5 Stars
Basically, I was skeptical if this would even work. Not only is it still working, but the sound quality is decent. For note taking (which this type of mike is designed for) it's great, also my daughter records her voice for games (pretty good quality, and hear the syllabels) and recordings of her clarinet (compressed sounding and not ideal for this use, but better than I thought -- for example audio is better than vids with 2 year old kodak easy share 7mp camera using its built in mic).
For $2, you shouldn't expect more than than that. I'm amazed.
Customer Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
Works like a charm. Coupled with the app "Shazam," I can easily record any music I hear without the mess of the headphones with mic, and let Shazam detect what song is playing and bookmark it, share it, or purchase it straight from iTunes. Recording speech also works fine with the "Voice Memos" app that ships with an iPod Touch. Handy in so many ways.
The only downside is that it is so small, I can see easily losing it. However, if you're prone to that, the price point is sweet enough that you can purchase 10 of these - just to be safe.
Customer Review: Good for the price Summary: 3 Stars
It's a cheap mic--what do you expect? The sound quality is generally pretty poor and also quiet; so much so that I need to listen to it with earbuds in and the volume cranked up. However, it does a good job for what I needed: a mic for an iPod Touch that was small, cheap, and functional. The capsule design works well and it feels surprisingly sturdy. Don't expect any audio wonders, but if you just need to record a lecture (like me!) it'll do the trick.
In retrospect, I might've spent more money on a proper microphone, though.
Customer Review: I got exactly what I expected Summary: 4 Stars
When I went looking for a microphone for my iTouch, I was looking for A) inexpensive, B) small, and C) functional. This small microphone is exactly what I need, and I was blown away by the sound quality on my first tests. I never would have expected something so small to work so well! I hope it lasts for years, but even if it only works for the next two or three weeks, I've already gotten my money's worth out of this spiffy little mic.
I think my only problem is keeping an eye on it so my kids and cat don't try to eat it. :)
