Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of All-in-One Travel Power Plug Adapter for US, UK, EU, AUCustomer Review: This is all you need on devices rated for 110-240V AC but... Summary: 5 Stars
... remember, it's a PLUG adapter not a voltage converter
This is all you need for any one device IF it is rated for universal voltage of 100-240V AC. I travel quite a bit, especially to Europe and I always carry a couple of these adapters in my bag.
Most existing laptops and other electronics are this way these days but some older ones may come with a 110/240V switch so make sure that you check before you plug your device into the foreign outlet, especially if you do it into the outlet of 'higher' voltage.
On this adapter's features:
- Supports both 2-prong and 3-prong US plugs.
- It is NOT a voltage converter. If your device is not rated for 240V chances are it WILL be destroyed if you plug it into a 220/250V outlet. The surge protector MAY help but I personally never tested that :) so be careful.
- Amazingly, for the price, it even offers some surge protection.
Customer Review: Great price, but not sure if it works. Summary: 3 Stars
I got a great price on this adaptor, and it was delivered exactly as promised. I only needed the adaptor for my hairdryer, and I flipped the switch on the hairdryer to 250v so that I would not need a converter. I had read the evaluations of the adaptor online, so I knew to lock the adaptor prongs in place. However, when I tried using the hairdryer with the adaptor in the UK, the hairdryer only worked for a few seconds before it konked out. It never worked again in the UK but worked fine when I got home and flipped the switch back to 125v. Fortunately, every hotel I stayed in had hairdryers available, so everything worked out okay. Several friends who travel a lot have said that they always have problems with hairdryers, regardless of the adaptor, so I'm not sure where the problem lies. Maybe it's that 250v is a little bit higher than the 230v standard voltage in the UK. If so, why was the hairdryer designed to require 250v?
Customer Review: Great device for international travel Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this device to use in Europe and because it supposedly is also a surge protector. I have used it daily for a month and had no problems with it. It works with 2 prong US plugs and also 3 prong US plugs. It also works with my old converter/transformer that has European prongs but they aren't long enough to fit into the recessed outlets found in Germany. The design is quite ingenious and I think it would accept every plug in the world. The only problem I've had with this adapter is that I have a few plugs that are heavy. Their weight pulls the adapter out of the socket. I solved this problem by wedging a shoe under the plug or adapter. The European plug does not need to lock in place to use, so I haven't had any issues that other reviewers have. I don't know how good of a surge protector it is and I hope I won't find out. Overall I recommend this adapter. It looks bulky but is very light weight.
Customer Review: Clever design, shoddy construction Summary: 1 Stars
This product has a great, compact design. Unfortunately it is flawed by two basic problems. First, in the UK configuration, the ground pole is not rigid enough and it can be quite difficult to plug the adapter into the socket (the plastic ground pole does not lock into position and folds in rather than pushing into the socket where it belongs). Second, and equally flawed is the surge protector aspect of the product. I left my adapter plugged in with nothing attached all day one day and came home to find the thing dead. I doubt it received a significant surge, other surge protectors in the room attached to the same outlet were untripped. Regardless, it rendered my unit useless 2 days into a 2 week trip.
Overall, I would not recommend this product to anyone, and would suggest instead getting a more conventional conversion kit. It will be a more reliable and less frustrating experience.

i'm always skeptical about cheap items I buy on Amazon, but i just couldn't bring myself to pay the $30 for a adapter. Luckily this one shipped quickly and worked like a charm. I used this for a week in New Zealand and had no troubles at all. The first day, however, the adapter kept falling out of the socket like another reviewer mentioned, like it was just too heavy and also too loose in the socket. Until my boyfriend came over and locked the adapter. THIS IS KEY. You slide the lock to unlock on the top of the adapter to release the country adapter that you need (mine was nz). Once you have it in place, you need to slide the button on top back to LOCK! This keeps it sturdy and in place when you plug it into the socket. WORKS LIKE A CHARM! No need to pay $30 for an adapter. Keep in mind this is not a converter. So if your electronics don't accept 110v to 240v, then this product will NOT suffice.
