Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of All-in-One Travel Power Plug Adapter for US, UK, EU, AUCustomer Review: Great International Adapter Summary: 5 Stars
I've read the bad reviews on this thing, but it's just worked for me and is a marvelous piece of engineering. Sure, it's cheaply made, but I don't expect platinum quality for a device that costs less than five bucks. The lock is a necessary feature to learn and it's not that difficult to use. I've used this in a half a dozen countries throughout Europe and it worked well. (I didn't test in the UK, which has been many of the complaints I saw.) I could see how it might not work on some of the recessed type F connectors, but it worked for me in the places I tried it. As an added bonus, this has also allowed me to use a European device that I purchased over here in the states, something I wasn't anticipating and was a great bonus! Just remember, always check your device to make sure it's compatible with the voltage you're plugging into! This isn't a transformer, just an adapter! Also, if your device requires and/or is better used with a ground...know this unit doesn't provide for that and your mileage may vary if you try this with such devices.
Customer Review: Light Weight, Compact, Inexpensive Summary: 4 Stars
I think this is a nice, little unit that converts not only for the Europeon prongs, USA, the bulky UK plugs, but it list also, Japan, Thailand, Australia, etc. I don't think it's bulky, and it's only a few bucks. Put it in your bathroom tote bag or a packed sock.
There are lock switches on top and bottom that release(and then you lock them out) the USA and UK plugs for use. I bought it specifically for use with a light up mouse's house, English, decorative teapot that has, of course, the English mongo prongs. Works fine, the light might be a tad dimmer with the adapter and our voltage.
I received no written instructions with our unit, but it's pretty easy to figure out. It appeared in good unused, unrusted conditon.
We travel to Europe, and I would reiterate other reviewers warnings that this is an adapter with stated surge protection but not a converter. Voltage varies; check your appliance to see what it can handle, and use a converter if need be. Be extra careful with computers!
Customer Review: I guess it's worth it's price, which for me was really cheap. Summary: 2 Stars
I was really excited to receive this in the mail, because after reading previous reviews, it seemed like a great steal. I bought it because I moved to Bulgaria, and I needed something fast to convert all my electronics. It worked great for the first month when I used it mainly for my laptop. And then all of a sudden, I had to constantly readjust my laptop adapter into the sockets of the all-in-one adapter, because there was no longer a solid electric connection. I was constantly readjusting it, that it just became a nuisance. And it still is. I mean I'm grateful that it still works, but only when whatever adapter I plug into is readjusted at different angles. But I guess if you're only going to use it a few times, then maybe this all in one adapter is for you. But it's definitely not for long term use. I can't really be mad about it, because I only bought it for $4 for from Amazon. But I would definitely look into another adapter for long term use, and if you know of a really great one, please let me know!
Customer Review: Power Plug Adapter Summary: 4 Stars
These power plug adapters are good for adapting plugs to fit into any outlet, however you will also need a converter for most countries. These adapters do not change the voltage and you will destroy anything you plug into them if the voltage is not correct. Look at voltage converters, in many cases they will convert the power and adapt the plug in one. I bought several of these adapters and a couple of converters to take to the UK with me. Just remember you MUST use a converter for items that need 120 Volts for most countries. For example if you are going to the UK they use 240 volts, so you will need to buy a step down converter to change the UK voltage to 120 volts prior to plugging anything into this adapter. In most cases the step down converters allready have the proper plug for the UK. Some U.S. made electronics will accept 240 Volts, (look on the plug in item for the specified voltage), and in that case this adapter would work perfectly.
Customer Review: Tiny slippy Summary: 3 Stars
I used it in the US with my european devices. I plugged the EU connector in it, no problem, it remained in it, but when I plugged it in the wall in the US, it fell out. The fork is too thin, I had to put something there to support it, otherwise it fell out from the connector. It remained only in the horizontal connectors when the gravity helped it. Nevertheless I could recharge my laptop and other devices' batteries.
