Customer Review: Product works as advertised...but planned obsolescence?

This was just what I needed to hook my Garmin GPS V to my Window$ Vista desktop for map update purposes (I'm a Mac user, but I keep a Window$ machine in the corner.) It works as advertised as a plug and play device.
However, one beef...this company deliberately put out a new product, which is almost functionally identical to their earlier USA19Qi - just one chip changed. They withdrew support for their older device by not releasing a Vista driver. Of course HP does it all the time to their scanners and printers.

This one works with Cisco 3750's as advertised. It works with our legacy Nortel switches as well. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is that I have not tried it on all our Cisco equipment but don't expect any issues. Works with cut and paste as well as updating firmware on Nortel and Cisco using IBM/Lenovo laptops... No issues - and shipping was fast (as usual from Amazon - Thanks)

Useless, considering it's 3 times more expensive than competing products, you'd expect it to have more flexibility. I have an A/V unit that needs to be upgraded via the RS-232 serial port -- it has the same extruding bolts on each side of the interface. Thanks to that, this product, which could have worked perfectly, is now blocked by this useless piece of non-removable metal! It's even soldered in. I don't understand how manufacturer's don't have a bit more foresight in a mass produced product. How dissappointing!Customer Review: It just works!

Works perfectly with windows XP pro on my Asus a8js laptop (2ghz core2 duo, 2gb 667mhz ram, etc).
I needed it because my new fancy laptop didn't have a serial port, and i use my laptop to connect my OBD2 scanner to automobiles to check the engine codes.
This allows COM4 to be assigned to the usb port, and the OBDCOM software can use this usb adapter perfectly to communicate with the car. It also works perfectly with VAGCOM.
it's worth the money, trust me.

I work with Cisco and other network gear on a daily basis in my role as Help Desk Editor at Network World. Although I primarily use this with my MacBook Pro (use either CoolTerm or ZOC/Pro for a terminal program) for gear config/administration, it does work good with Windows. It correctly implements the serial handshaking so you wont have problems with dropped characters or intermittent lockups in communications. This stays in my bag with the MB Pro at all times. If you dont have one, get one ordered today !!
