Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Keyspan by Tripp Lite USA-19HS Hi-Speed USB Serial Adapter, PC, MAC, supports Cisco Break Sequence

Customer Review: Very well supported by drivers
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this item because it said it supported OSX, and I have an old tablet (a Wacom Artz II 12") that I wanted to use with Table Magic (open source tablet drivers for old Wacom tablets on OSX). I had a different brand/model of adapter for my older GPS, and that worked in a very limited way in Windows, but I could not get that older device to work with this tablet on Windows, Linux, OR OSX.

With this device, I was able to get the tablet working with all three!

Highly recommended.

Update (Dec 2009): I just upgraded my machine to a 2009 Mac Pro with Snow Leopard, and this device still works perfectly. Kudos to the driver support team at Keyspan.

Customer Review: Keep using your serial Wacom...
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm very happy with this device. I have an older model Wacom ArtZ II 12 x 12 graphics tablet over (10 years old), which uses a serial port. I wanted to continue using it on my current computer rather than spend a small fortune to buy a new tablet that uses USB. All I needed was this Keyspan adapter and a download of the latest XP driver for the tablet from Wacom. I still have to use my Wacom power supply for the tablet (it doesn't get the power from the USB), but that's no big deal. The setup works wonderfully. It cost me $40 for the adapter but it saved me many hundreds by foregoing the purchase of a new tablet! Easy to use and works as promised. I love it!

Customer Review: Serial to USB adapter
Summary: 5 Stars

I am an IT manager for a local company in Des Moines. I had just set up new computers for two different offices and found that I needed serial to USB adapters for the security systems. I had purchased two different adapters from other companies only to find that they and their drivers were not MS certified causing Blue Screen of Death. I then bought the Keyspan adapters, installed the drivers and the adapter, tested and finally no more Blue Screen of Deaths (BSoD). I should have done more research before purchasing the other adapters. But beware, Windows 7 may also need different drivers when available. Test this with the MS Windows 7 Upgrade Adviser.

Customer Review: Excellent product, but a little bulky
Summary: 5 Stars

This adapter installed easily and worked perfectly with no hicups. I'm using it between a Compaq notebook and a DBX professional sound processor. I searched high and low to find a USB - serial adapter that would work with the DBX. This is the only one I have found that works. It's a great product, other than being a bit bulky compared to other USB-serial. My only other gripe is that the detachable cord always seems to be missing when I need it. These are very minor negatives for such a fine product. I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a high quality adapter, especially those in the sound industry who need to connect to their DBX processors.

Customer Review: Works with Vista and RS Linx
Summary: 5 Stars

Finally an adapter that works. USB to serial adapters sometimes work, and sometimes they don't. This one works. I use it for industrial communications between PLC's and a Windows Vista machine. Installed the software and it worked first time. Used with Rockwell Software RS Linx version 2.53. It also works well with other applications like Rice Lake Scales and the Datataker DL800. I'll be buying a couple more.

I also purchased a Cablestogo adapter (the blue one sold here on Amazon). It did not work with Vista or XP trying to connect to industrial equipment. The old adage is true - you get what you pay for.
